How good do you think we'll be in the trenches?

Too hard to know what is there on the DL.

The OL will benefit from being able to use their size more. AG had them overweight playing a zone scheme that is better with quicker(usually lighter) guys.

Hopefully a young guy can step in and contribute right away, but if not, I hope they are redshirted instead of playing to not redshirt.

Like I said in a previous thread hopefully the groups continues to get better as a whole and compete like **** in practice because that will show its benefits on saturday's and sometime's on thursday

I think the O-line will be much improved. All a year older, more experienced, and will have faced a Coach Kool D-line in practice for several months going into the season. Our old teams were great because they practiced against the best. I can see that being the case in the very near future.

lol these dudes got Donofrio on the brain.

Coach Kool is arguably the best dline coach in the country. We have elite talent at every position on the dline. AQM is one of the best DEs in the country, speed and beast combined. DT is loaded as well for the 1st time in years. No wait and see needed.... im just doing the math, the dline will be one of the best in the country, thats automatic.

We dont have elite talent at dt. Aqm hasnt proven to be one of the best DEs so thats pure opinion. Dt isnt loaded. Willis, mcintosh, norton, jenkins and moten and thats all. None of those guys would start at dt for clemson or ohio st, uf, fsu, bama, and etc.

lol youre just a groupie for those teams but thats cute.... whoever agrees with this post must be named "radio"

Elite is top 5 in the country.... We might not have enough elite depth of talent on the dline but it's is no lower than 15th in the country or arguably 10th....

AQM, Chad Thomas, Demetrius Jackson, Trent Harris, Scott Patchan, Gerald Willis, Kendrick Norton, Anthony Moten, RJ McIntosh were all blue chip caliber recruits being recruited by many if not all of the top schools in cfb.... so all the groupie sayings "they wouldnt start at FSU, Bama, Clemson, or Ohio St." is just some bs you dont know what they would do at those schools. All of those guys have as much talent as anybody on any of those teams that some of you all secretly are fans of.

AQM had 5 sacks in D'onofrio's anti defensive scheme but he's not elite lol gtfoh.... he's going to get 8-10 easy this year.

Coach Kool had Mizzou elite at dline with only maybe two at the most blue chip prospects. Coaching is the main thing, with how much more talented our dline is from a recruiting stand point than Mizzous, when i say i believe we have the potential to be elite on the dline. Top 10 would be great as well and is nothing to be down about.

But to act like we're going to just have an average dline is crazy, not you but some of these posters on this site.

Qbs will average 300 a game against our secondary.

A lot of you are sleep on how bad that corner situation really is. The secondary will probably get hosed.

I'm hoping the DL can improve enough to mask it but I have us winning 11 games just in a shootout fashion.

Brad gone make a name for himself out here. He's been to two bowl games lost two. Now it's time for him to win one.

We will be much improved from last year just based on our coaches. Kehoe was bad. Melvin was bad. He got lucky and caught on at Purdue. They are barely a D1 program right now. He will get fired next year along with the rest of that pathetic staff. One year deals go right along with his history as a corch. Our guys are in or will be in better shape/ condition this year. We will be better. I think the new attacking style on D will excite everyone involved. I don't think people understand how bad our coaching was. It was high schoolish. All of these kids are talented and it will show. Also the involvement of a fullback that can actually block will help our line out a ton. I guess we have one?? If we do it will make our O line much much better.

We are no where elite but solid....we'd be still far behind if Kool wasn't brought on.
As mentioned before changes in scheme will help, even on OL where we wont be running out of the shotgun every play. Hard to believe Yearby went over 1000 yds

Agreed. Our secondary (particularly CBs) is going to cost us a couple games.

As far as in the trenches, I think we'll be alot better. There's talent on both the OL and the DL. Not the depth of talent that top 5 lines have, but good enough to be much-improved with better coaching and schemes. Our OL zone-blocking last year was ridiculous.

If Dline does not improve a lot, we are in trouble. I expect it to be much better with Kool since he seems to lean toward letting the big dogs hunt. Big questions about Oline but hopefully improved defense will give us more 3 and outs and turnovers. That should lead to the opposing defense to be more tired.

If the dl doesn't improve then it's the players they were hype. We can't blame coaching because we have the best of the best.

Rushing defense was 101st in the country. They were 70th in the country for sacks. Rushing offense was 117th. Penalties, Miami was dead last, 127th, after emphasizing it in the offseason for years. DL usually makes the defense. They might get gashed, but they have a couple of games to work out the kinks.

I know what you saying man, they have been goldenized and think we are depleted in talent in every area...

It's really a question of potential vs results. If you're trying to predict how well they'll play based on results, then you'll believe we're in for a long season. If you're going on potential, both lines (especially defensive) should be great. Everybody in the rotation on D-line was at least a four star prospect coming out of high school. Chad Thomas and Gerald Willis were five star prospects. The reason all of the previous coaches got fired was because they were getting 1 star results with four and five star talent. Maybe, you're an idiot and you think the corches were great and EVERY SINGLE high school allstar on the roster is a bust. If you think that, please eat a giant *******. What's more likely is that with better schemes and coaching, both lines should be vastly improved. I think the o-line can be decent. Maybe not great but good enough to get the job done against most teams. I believe the D-line has the potential to be very good. One of the top 10-15 lines in college football. I'm waaaaay more concerned about the secondary than I am about the line.

wait how do u know that we have elite talent? because there high school rankings?

and if they fail this year will u blame kool? if they do u blame the evals because we have great coaching now. i dont think we will be as god as people think we r very slow and we need an influx of beasts with speed like joe jackson
