How feeds work -you should read this

I completely understand changing Eye In The Sky to Football Forum. Makes sense that others would search “football” rather than “eye in the sky”..

Most users are not as well versed in IT as some others. Keeping it simple would seem to make it easier for the vast majority of users. Adding a bunch of bells and whistles doesn’t seem attractive to the average user.

It has become apparent that many users are struggling with recent changes to CIS. I want to explain how "Feeds" work and how they can be useful.

Their purpose
The purpose of feeds is to give users the ability to filter to content they desire. For example, in my screenshot I have filtered to view all threads in the "Eye In The Sky", "Football Recruiting" and "Gameday Discussion" boards. Any posts made within "Basketball", "Baseball", "Hidden Forums" (category), and "General" (category) will be hidden. In other words I won't see post from off-topic, COVID, moderator, and other boards not selected. The "Save" button allows users to safe their preference.

I hate it, what do I do?
Click "Forum list" and you will have the classic forum structure that has been in place since the mid 90's.

Ok, whatever; why did the forum names change?
We want new users and terms like "Eye in the Sky" are not commonly searched for individuals trying to find information on Miami football. It is also rarely used and in fact has only been mentioned in a post 577 times since this site was started. This includes mentions that are quoted. The most common name used to describe our football board is "football board".

After playing a bit with this example, it may have changed my opinion a bit. Created a filter and saved, updated my favorite to go straight there. It may grow on me and is a bit easier to access.

Went to dark old but still can’t sort the threads by date. I’m lost

Try this based on Andrew's example.

I still can't believe our Eye in the Sky forum name was only mentioned 577 times for how long the Eye in the Sky forum's were active. The name is pretty unique, but truthfully, there was pretty much no reason to ever mention Eye in the Sky. It'd be like going on 247 and saying InsideTheU a bunch. Most of them just say ITU if anything. Eye in the Sky....hmm

I generally like the board as it is. But, old dogs.....

I like Eye in the Sky but to help draw in searching new users you might try the "hidden word" trick and just put "football" after Eye in the Sky making the hidden word match the color of the background. No one sees it but search engines.

Keep up the good work!

I'm good.

I want football news, I go to that forum.

I want recruiting, I go to that forum.

Mixing them altogether, not my cup of tea. Like email, I don't want them all mixed together into one feed.

Just personal preference and hopefully you can choose old or new when the dust settles.

Looks like it’s back to old now

It just takes a few committed spammers like we had in the coaching thread to post the phrase eye in the sky in this thread and it will all of the suddenly be trending and we can justify changing it back. make it happen.

edit/ never mind it already was changed back. nice job everyone.
