How does Manny survive?

I want manny gone as well. But firing him now would just set us up for another failure of a coaching candidate. I feel like the coaching pool is weak this year. I mean FSU had to settle for mike Norvell after a long search. If we fired him now, we’d probably end up hiring a coordinator taking his first HC job and we can’t afford that vicious cycle.

You’re not going to fire a HC after 1 year on the job for on field performance. What are you going to do if the next guy has a ****** 1st year as well? Fire him too? That’s not realistic.

Manny absolutely has to get this OC hire right though. It’s going to make or break his tenure. No way around it.

He’s been here for four years and sold the BOT on a quick fix. His resume is so paltry that it is fully justified in firing him, given the results.

kool covered up his flaws. he got picked apart so many times but our DL was really good. mannys whole defense is madden "blitz all"

One thing that you have to consider is up and coming coaches know they will have options. If you want a good coach to choose Miami then they need to be confident that they have time to install their system and culture. It doesn't mean we should lose to FIU, Duke, GT, and La Tech but bad losses do happen with new coaches.

You're letting your emotions get the best of you. Coaches are not fired after year one, even bad ones. That is not an opinion, it is a fact. This isn't a grocery store job, it's a multi-million dollar coaching job and it follows the general rules that make up those jobs. Contracts are about length and buyout (guaranteed money). If you think we are going to hire a coach on an incentive-based contract then you are ignoring every other that happens in college football.

It has nothing to do with precedent. Our athletic department is run by people who answer to no one. There are plenty of multi million dollar businesses and industries that would fire a CEO if they performed as bad as Manny after one year. That’s bc they answer to shareholders.

The guaranteed ACC money from the new network is the worst thing that could’ve happened to this program. It’s acting as an enabler to this incompetence.

Manny is an NCAA D1 football coach at a major program. It is completely unheard of for coaches to be fired after year one.

Also, CEO's do not get fired as quick as you indicated. They are often given plenty of time to implement their plans and turn around organizations.

He would need a scandal that could cost UM money to be fired after year one. Something Baylor or PSU like, and I am not wishing that on anyone.

Well, those programs have become more relevant than us since their scandals so maybe we can use a little trouble to wake the idiots running this **** show the **** up.

It appears as if he will be moving on from Enos. That is how he survives.

Clappy resorted to something similar - and it didn't save his sorry *** - in the long run.

AD made a bad hire.

HC Manny - made some bad hires.

When your judgement is proven to not be very good - you need to go.

Shannon fired Walton after year 1, Nix after year 2.

But nobody celebrated Clappy or Randy firing people. The love for Manny bc he came up with the dumbass chain is remarkable.

If someone ranked their company like Manny tanked this team they would absolutely be fired. This season is the equivalent of a stock price dropping 50%. That is not an exaggeration or emotional. WE LOST TO FIU AND GOT SHUTOUT BY LA TECH.

Manny is Carly Fiorina reincarnated. If you remember she was a “change agent,” and blamed all the criticism she got on the change bull crap, sound familiar? Kind of like “culture and rebuild.” Coworkers said she never doubted her own “rightness.” She didn’t listen to anyone around her either. His job is on a much smaller scale so the impact is much higher and quicker.

School doesnt want to (or cant afford to without ******* up its budgets badly) pay his buyout. That simple.

They paid 4 million just to bring him back. They absolutely have the money, but the BOT members that are in his corner such as Lemonis and Epstein will never admit to failure and wont allow it to happen for at least another season.

Let's not forget they're still refusing to pay Al's golden parachute. They're probably going to have to pay that at some point. Between that, and Mandy's Temple buyout, Enos' buyout, they just can't keep affording all of those buyouts. It's almost as if they should take their time on coaching searches...and fire the guy that keeps drawing up these contracts.

Manny was cheaper than Richt by at least $1M per year so paying the $4M actually somewhat evened out if Manny lasted. Now thats ****ed if you fire him (which will cost you hmm maybe another $5-8M for his buyout?) and youre not gonna hire someone cheaper again. To get anyone good you're gonna have to go out and pay someone $4-5M+ (with another $10-15M buyout clause, see FSU) to get anyone good to come to this dumpster fire. So the Math is quickly ****ed unless BOT wants to put suddenly put out major bucks. They rather just give Manny another year. That ****** simple
