How does everyone feel about our LBs next season?

I know it was just some high school from Louisiana, but Brooks played very well. I mean he wasn't MP but he really looked good. Hopefully McCloud comes out strong and is a leader, however there are a few of our young guys that I'm really excited about.

Obviously, depth and experience is scary.

What do you guys think?
Don't feel good at all. Miss the days of Denzel and Grace when those guys just had the nack for being around the ball and making plays in the backfield. They don't light anybody up. While our guys maybe a little faster with McCloud and Brooks McCloud never really impressed me. Has all of the measurements but never really made the impact I thought he would. We had issues with a young secondary last year, we may experience the same with our linebackers this year.

Think McCloud will surprise next year, we usually always have a 5th year guy step up and play above what they’ve previously shown, plus he’s finally outta of the shadow of shaq and pinck..
And off course love me some huff and TAC

IMO, Quarterman is the most overrated LB in Miami Hurricane History...followed by Pinkney. Manure Diaz was infatuated with them and I don't know why. They played well as true freshman, but they did not get that much better. Part of that is on the kids' individual talents. However, a good percentage of the blame for their failure to improve was the poor coaching they received.

Manure DAss brought in transfer players for EVERY position on the defense EXCEPT LB, despite our poor depth and ****** recruiting at that position. WHY?

Truthfully, Quaterman and Pinkney were limited players. UNC's quarterback turned linebacker jumped off the screen more than those guys. Was it because he was better or because he was coached and put position to perform better? You decide.

So, to answer the question that was posed in this thread. I think our linebacker will reveal good things to come. Sure, there will be some mistakes. However, we will be much more athletic, twitchy and instinctive.

Long as our Dline perform well our LB’s will be ok hopefully one of these guys surprise us and become an all acc type of player even though a lot of you guys talk trash about Shaq and Pinckney we were spoiled at that position, never really worried about it since there freshman year ready to see these new guys ball out

I like Huff and Joyner a lot in the rotation next year. Got brooks with a lot more speed and pretty solid freshman coming in tirek Austin-clave and Flagg. Future is promising, a lot more speed compared to years past.

Love our LB situation. We have plenty of depth when you consider we generally only play two linebackers most of the time. Brooks and McCloud will be an improvement over Quarterman and Pickney in my opinion, because they won't pick the same wrong gap to go through every time. Jennings, Huff, Joyner, Steed, Austin-Cave, and Flagg add plenty of depth. We are actually four deep at both linebacker positions.

We will also be loaded at the striker position. So I don't understand why people keep saying we don't have depth at linebacker when we actually. We may not have much experience, but we have plenty of depth.
I wanna see Huff

I'm sure the young lbs during the first half of the season might make a few mistakes.but one good things is they aren't true freshmen and the dts and dbs do have experience.defense should still be a good one might even be better.

I expect them to look better with an older DT group in front of them. Ford (SR), Nesta (JR), Miller (RS Soph). Add in McCloud and Brooks’ speed and they should flash way more.

Sam & Huff >> Pickney & Shaq

some minor growing pains but they will be better

watching pickney eating fried food at 2 am on a weekday ....... on social media was really unpleasant

Will be just as good as this year.

HurricaneMarsh is that you?

we are screwed. Expect similar results to what we had at CB this year.

Dont know how you nimrods expect guys whove never played (other than Mccloud) to play better than guys who have started at LB for 8 years minimum in Shaq and Pinkney. We may be slightly more athletic...but their will be a steep learning curve...add to it the depth is all injured or guys who havent performed. I want 1 portal LB.

Which is why they should've gave the young guys more snaps this year. Give them experience. See what they're good at (or bad at) before the job is theirs and theirs alone the next season.

This happens at every position. Guys leave (whether it be early or after 4-5 years) and we have to "start from scratch" because the young replacement has been "a healthy scratch". ZERO forward thinking.
