I know Surtain did not play for him but Sam Madison did and Jason Taylor did and certainly that subject has come up at Dolphin alumni functions over the years regarding Saban's manner and demeanor, you know like walking over an injured player in the locker room during halftime or the fact that unless you were cleared to say hello to this loser prior you were not to address him in the hallway if you worked in the Dolphins facility. I mean Saban has several loose screws and you would send your kid off to play for him? Unless Surtain Jr. needs some tough love or a boot camp experience I am having a hard time understanding the choice here.

So you want your kid to get to the NFL? Got it, but **** man, you already hit the NFL money yourself but you are acting like this is life or death to take care of the family or something. PS2 is sitting there saying in his signing ceremony today 'he is going to further his academic career at Bama for the next 3 or 4 years', holy chit, the sentence is not even a congruent thought, talking about going to any school for only 3 years to play football does not lend itself to graduating early, especially at a football factory so why even pretend. You might think Pat Surtain Sr. might realize that he wants his kid to be smart along with the football skills but he is clearly focused on getting to the NFL in 3 years. With all the opportunities and choices afforded to PS Sr. to guide his kid to maximize all his opportunities he comes up with Bama, WOW!

He didn't. That simple. Take a look at mom and dad's face when the kid announces. Not even a smile. They disagreed w the decision but let the kid make his own decision as it should be

Because he's rational and didn't let a decade old grudge or his emotions affect his son's future. Best DB in the nation goes on to play for the best DB coach.

This is true. Sr although friends with Rumph, doesn't respect his coaching abilities. I had a friend that coached, but I wold never of let him coach my son.

Parents have been selling their kids for a long long time. I guess a little money in the bank didn't make this daddy any different. As soon as LSU didn't phony up enough, daddy PS ran right up the big house at the biggest plantation so massa could check out the merchandise and cut a better deal.

Jason Taylor credited Saban for winning him DPOY. Yes he bailed on the Phins, but is anyone worried he's going to bail on Bama? Other than Belichek he's probably the most respected coach of the generation. With a specialty teaching DB's. It's a logical choice, especially since his dad is probably very much aware of the difference coaching can make.

Losing Campbell to Georgia/Coley was a bigger loss than Surtain.
