How do we start converting and also stop the other teams from converting. We suck at this and it is the biggest difference between winning and losing.
We are 129 out of 130 converting! Good teams are at about 48% We are at 28%
We are 70 out of 130 stopping. Good teams at about 39% we are at 30%. So not so bad.

Our defense just gets wore down not getting off the field on 3rd downs and us not converting. I am surprised our D can even hold up all game.

Stop running play action on 1st down.

Pass more on first down. Quick screens. If we run the spread or motion the jet sweep instead of the play action we improve. The fallacy of 3rd down conversion percentage is to think it has nothing to do with 1st and 2nd down.

When the average yardage is long on 3rd down you are setting yourself up for failure. We need to manage the downs better.

Some of it is on the line, some on the qb, some on the play calling on some on the wide outs for dropping passes and missing blocks.

Havoc play calling is much better than repetitive. Most dont get how to call plays. I am no guru of course. But logic says if you are running it successfully then you should keep at it. This is generally untrue. You should use PA or a fake in those scenarios. The spread out of the gun makes this much more effective imo. As linemen are working backwards but dropping 5 to 10 yards into play action you are basically stepping right into them. Sometimes you can step up other times you are screwed. The largest issue is we cant establish a consistent run threat. Teams dare us and we fail. If they know what you are going to do good luck.

Also because of our kicker we are playing for more 4th down scenarios in ranges where most teams dont. As such we arent as concerned with picking up 3rd downs when we are in 4 down territory. This isnt huge but it is a factor.

Just goes back to reality. We are an inconsistent team with little offensive identity.

Third down conversions aren’t about third down, they are about first and second. You have to stay ahead of the chains and get into manageable third and shorts. Until we stop the slow developing PA passes and giving up sacks it won’t change

Execute better including play calling on 1st and 2nd down. Also on 3rd down numerous occasions I have seen pass plays where the receiver ran a route short of the first down market. Some of that is play call. Some of that is the reciever being totally unaware of where the first down marker is

Think a lot of it is mental .4th and 17 vs nc good example.think the players at times don't think they have to play every down as hard as they can.team seems to celebrate before the game is over.

Tell Enos to go **** himself this offseason and hire chad Morris on his way down from Arkansas.

We have to stay out of sucky 3rd down situations. If we're 3rd and "long", our OL cannot stop a decent DL at this point on a consistent basis.

1. Eliminate penalties
2. Productive running game
3. Quick 3-5 step drop passing game
4. Take occasional shots downfield to keep defense honest
5. Teach QB’s to throw the ball away when the play isn’t there.

I'd try and use whatever the other teams are doing cause they aren't having a whole lot of trouble on their end.
