How Did the CFB World Miss it This Bad?

GT DL was impressive. DJU was underwhelming and FSU is terrified to let him throw. FSU game plan was to just bully GT

DJU did have moderate success against zone finding the soft pockets, but couldn't do anything downfield against man.

I hope our corners take a leap forward because they're the key to how good this team will be IMO

The bull**** was their pre-season hype. If they had lost to UGA by say 21 maybe you could make an argument, but it was 60 FFS and UGA took their foot off the gas.

I didn't get too caught up in the 60 pt loss only because I think we lost by 50 to Syracuse before we beat UCLA in 98 if my memory serves. Sometimes it's motivation. However the loss of talent was glaring and to assume they reloaded was a ridiculous take.

This has so many parallels to last years season opening colorado win over tcu. Tcu was given the benefit of the doubt from the prior season, and suddenly the media hyped up the buffaloes. I think it’s more likely that fsu is a 7-5 type team at the end of the year, and gt also loses 4 or 5 and all of the “Georgia tech shocks the college football world” takes look absurd

They trying to get those GT fans interested then when they lose they will fire everyone lol. They hype way too many programs up. They been hyping us up for years without actual studs coming in until now. Same with fsu they hyped them up after countless blue chip misses on the trail not realizing that will have a huge impact on their program. They thought Mike would “develop” or “draw something up”

When you do not have the Tom Brady’s you will look ordinary.

You just don’t lose that many KEY PLAYERS and just be the same level or wven close to it unless you recruit like the elites

Verse,coleman,wilson,green, fiske,jtravis,benson, jones,bell,bethune..Those aren’t just random names, those were literally there best players all of them got drafted and there was a bunch of other guys who started that were good just didn’t get drafted..The fall off was easy to predict

I think it is a combination of FSU's DL is merely okay this year and GT's OL is probably above average. If you watched what GT was doing, it wasn't anything special or tricky. Just right up the middle or off the tackles.

Haynes King at the halftime interview, who didn't say much, pretty much explained why they were doing so well by saying they were "putting a hat on a hat". GT just out efforted FSU yesterday and did better in the trenches. It's one of those things where FSU wins 7 out of 10 times playing against GT, it's just that one of those three losses happened when it mattered.
 
I never understood the hype. FSU has been a bum for a long time.

The media needs a Florida team to be doing good for clicks. That's how they got it wrong.

Doubt it but maybe they were pumped up to fail after whining incessantly after being left out of the playoffs last year. Ya sure guys, you're that good. Pump and dump.

All of Europe to this day - share the influences of the Viking Raiders even around the Mediterranean. Just like College Football - to this day - share the influences that the UM Berserkers waxed their butts with.

The truth is there are teams that get higher than they really should be each year. FSU is one of them. Hard for many to believe on here, but Miami is usually ranked higher than they should be at the beginning of each year as well.
 
With all due respect. Pre Season polls are for short bus shorties & ESPIN drones.

In 2024 ( & for the foreseeable future ) FSU is top ten only in dirty rubias down for the team. Shots Shots Derp - Facts

This was a team that lost:

-Its star QB
-Its star RB
-Its star WRs
-Its star TE
-Its star DE and DT

And multiple other starters on the defense. This was a team that looked completely different when Jordan Travis went down. Even with Travis, it had skated by clearly inferior teams and had major luck on its side. This is also a team that got annihilated by Georgia, which exposed that its level of HS recruiting was mediocre at best. Yet the CFB world still regarded this 2024 FSU team as a preseason ACC champion pick and Top 10 team.

There’s a lot of season left, and there’s time to turn things around, but this is an at best 8-4 FSU team. They’ve got a tougher schedule than anticipated. They will be underdogs against Clemson, ND, and Miami. They have touch matchups at SMU and Memphis. They also have some decent matchups against BC and UNC.

Finally, like many of you on this board have said, you can’t live or die by the portal. At some point mediocre HS recruiting is gonna catch up. Finally, it looks like FSU’s bill is due.

The only thing in all of this that is confusing is how the CFB world so blatantly ignored what was in front of them. A team that downgraded at every position is, in fact, going to be far worse this year compared last year. The only way 7-5/8-4 gets worse for FSU is if Miami and MC finally break through and have a huge Year 3. TBD, the opportunity is there and must be taken.

No doubt. Notre Dame is overrated every year.
