I'm not a Canes fan but I'm along for the 2026 ride with $. Miami should be in the front rank of contenders, not outside the top-6 as they are on sportsbooks. Rather bizarre to me that such a nationally famed program as Miami would go under the radar considering all this 2026 team has going for it.
Miami was runner up last year and they upgraded at QB with Mensah, who I rate as easily a top-5 national QB, plus added Barkate who is going to play on Sundays. Miami lost talent on both sides of the ball to the NFL but are still stocked with elite talent almost across the board. They have one of the top coaching staffs in college football and one with tremendous continuity. On paper at least, their schedule is among the least formidable of the top-7 contenders with no ACC foe coming into the season as a credible rival.
Anything less than 11 regular season wins plus ACC CG win would be a major disappointment. Canes should be at least 12-1 and get a First Round bye. After that who knows but Miami is no worse than a coin flip against anyone heads up.
