At this point in his career Saban isn't going anywhere. So one year after signing that blockbuster deal with USC Riley is just going to pick up and leave to Texas? Not likely. Finally why would Smart leave Georgia which is his alma mater if I'm not mistaken and go to Texas where nobody has been able to win anything since Mack Brown and Vince Young?

I'm not trying to be argumentative but you threw out 3 names that are not even close to being realistic for the reasons above and others. I asked the question about who Texas would go after if they canned Sark for a good reason and that's because it's a difficult one to answer.

No worries.

Before Tom Herman was hired there were reportedly heavy negotiations with Saban. Granted, his age might diminish his desirability now but I can imagine some old money Texas boosters wanting that name, and being willing to write whatever check is needed to secure him. I threw out the other names just because a Sark failure in an era where Texas is getting ready to enter the SEC, and an era where A&M is now surging is anathema to the huge boosters of Texas. Being out here in Austin, the entire 2010 - 2021 stretch is anathema. So I can imagine a ridiculous sum of money being offered to secure a huge name for a reset. So maybe - and likely not Riley or Smart. But if not Saban, whoever is the best head coach out there.
 
Jimbo will be in the discussion at Bama. But college football is quickly becoming a pro league and I expect Bama to swing for the fences with a guy like Sean Payton.

BTW, the only hot take that we know will absolutely come true is that Mario will come under fire by a minority of fans which will slowly and steadily gain in numbers throughout the season. At least one poster will start a Fire Mario thread at some juncture so he can claim to be the 1st.
