...as their reputation states they are.

Josh Jobe And Surtain (and the rest of the Bama secondary really) weren’t prepared last night. Their technique and coverage skills didn’t look good at all and even over the course of the year they’ve been a pretty bad unit. It got me thinking how is this possible that a team like Bama who gets to hand pick their blue chip DBs would have to rely on freshmen.

Signed in 2016 and 2017 All high 4stars and I couldn’t tell you if any of them played last night.

If we signed those guys our expectations would be to have the #1 pass defense in the country.

Landon collins and minkah Fitzpatrick both killed it this year among many others

Not a wise thread

That in part goes back to your game - if you're a run-heavy offense - you won't be throwing as much, and your DB's won't be getting the same workout as you'll need in an Air Raid offense.

Last night was a precision attack offensively and defensively by Clemson.

That Clemson coaching staff really earned their money last night. Players were completely confident and knew their business.

All bama CBs suck in the pros. To be honest most of all bama top players be bust in the pros minus Julio Jones and a few others.

Best pro CBs pretty consistently come out of LSU.
Bama produced average to above average starts at CBs, but at SS they produce arguably some of the best.

I think Minkah Fitzpatrick is an outlier, that guy would have been a stud no mater which school he went to. Born work ethic.

With Bama stockpiling blue chip recruits at a ridiculous pace, can someone explain why they need to rely so much on true freshmen playing cornerback? Did they have a bunch of injuries in their secondary? I mean Miami only gave one freshman CB actual burn this season, you would think Bama would have a deep stable of experienced guys.

Cb is their weakest position development wise ij the NFL. Marlon Humphrey looks good and Dre Kirkpatrick is ok but they don't have a great history there at all

**** I wish any of that was true.

Sad to say, the well paid young secondary will end up fine...just fine. All you can hope is that once they do, Alabama has most of their DL go pro the year before...it will just keep coming around. Bottom line, Clemson's OL made Coach Kul look average and Remember the Titans hit the open guys.

Still, it was a treat watching that Judas Jobe get ***** slapped most of the night.

I thought Surtain played OK last night. He got worked by CD Lamb in the Semifinal though. Ross was just on another level though, that has to sting a Bama kid doing that to the Tide.
