Homer = Unusng Hero

Love me some Homer but cmon guys the defense was set up for the pass. Walton could have made those runs.

It was moreso good play calling by Richt to put some runs in

He should have been playing all game. Richt is married to Walton, but I'm taking 100% Homer all day over 75% Walton.

Go back and look at Walton in pass pro, he was great! Maybe Homer is not as good in that area.

He was that , but it also showed our hand. Fsu knew he was hurt and wasn't leaving the backfield. It was obvious he was just a glorified ol in second half

Who was Donaldson's replacement on The Drive? I worried that FSU would exploit the replacement to sack Rosier, essentially end the game. The replacement did his job. That's how tight games are won.
Gaynor. I was going too crazy to be paying close attention but he must have held up

I thought Gaynor, but wasn't sure. Isn't he also a freshman from Dade?
I don't think he's from Dade, but yeah he was getting a lot of hype. He's obviously way smaller than Donaldson but tough and nasty. Nice future with those guys.

Just looked him up. He played at Pompano Beach.

Gaynor played for Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Pompano Beach. Tiny school that probably led to him being under-recruited. Much to our benefit.

Not a tiny school..a big school actually...just not very good at football or putting out prospects

What impressed me was his pick up of the blitz a few times
Obviously the staff worries about that, but put a te to support him
He can run. Cut and go. Gains positive yardage

We beat FSU at doak... so I’m happy as ****,
But... with FSU defensive speed and discipline, Walton’s,
Style of play wasn’t working.. we needed to get north and south with
The football, Walton runs great in space but the only way
I thought we could get success running the ball was with Homer between the tackles
It worked towards the end of the game.
Like I said, we won I’m happy great job Homer and all Canes

It would be great to really have a one two punch. They both compliment each other I think better than last year.

Homer has got some wheels. He needs to be getting touches in this offense especially if Walton is banged up. Kid was a big recruit let him get some touches.

I really like Homer, but to talk about being a big recruit is subjective. A big recruit for Golden yes, Richt hmmmm. A dime to you may only be a 7 to me.

I could care less about his recruiting status. My point was that at some point he had some major upside and he had some talent as a recruit. There are plenty of big star recruits who never materialize on the field. Homer however has shown he can run north and south with explosiveness strength and speed.. Walton is special. But if he’s banged up get Homer oiled up and get him some carries. As far as Showers actually landing him as a big recruit and not losing him to the gators or noles is as shocking as anything but that’s another story for another day.

This game better had opened up cmr's eyes and use Homer more.... Esp in first half.... ****

Thanks for correction. Heard so much this spring about how it was an insignificant program, just assumed it must have been a small school.

Every time we laid the wood to Cam Acres, Jaques Patrick would come in and get carries.

I don't understand why Travis Homer didn't get any touches until Walton injured his other ankle.

How many times does it have to be posted that Homer can't be trusted in pass blocking formations.?? Gezzzz .

I thought the same thing last week versus Duke as well. I don’t understand why they had Walton in so much then either. Homer has proven to be more than capable as backup. He’s actually not a bad blocker in pass protection or coming out of the backfield as a receiver. Should see the field more even if Walton were healthy. He’s a different back. One cut and hit it at 100mph, where as Walton is patient and slow looking for gaps. Sometimes, you need a foot in the ground and go guy.

With the backs we're getting.. low key i hope Walton bolts for the league.. dude just can't perform against tough comp. Part is O-line and Part is vision. Plus we haven't had Homer's speed/explosivness since Duke Johnson honestly.

You bring nothing of value to these threads

Where did this narrative come from? Because I thought Homer did well in pass protection tonight.

It's a bs narrative with no basis I reality. Richt played a one legged walton last week when we were up 3 scores with 7 minutes left. Not exactly we're gonna chuck it every down so we need our best pass protector in time. Furthermore this game richt was playing walton every down in the second half, not just passing downs. And he was running him. Can't we just call a spade a spade? Why do we have to make up excuses to defend richt?

It’s made up cuz I don’t get it either. And if you can’t put a guy in who can house it because he lacks pass blocking abilities then work on it. He was fine when I watched him.
