Holiday Inn

Actually...hes probably not lying. The Holiday Inn in Canton, OH is a nice four star hotel, and the HOF has an agreement with Holiday Inn that if the canidates wish, they can stay at the facility and be well taken care of, compliments of the HOF.

It's a very nice hotel, similar to a Hilton or other semi-luxury hotel. It's about 4-5 miles away from the Hall.

I know this because I broke down in Canton, parked it at a Kenworth repair shop and had to stay there a couple of days. I arrived a few months after Ray Lewis was enshrined, and the cute hotel clerk told me she got a pic with Ray and showed me.

I was there for two days, took an Uber to the HOF. It was really cool. The holographic Joe Namath was abit weird but it did have a good message for kids.

I stayed in the hotel while some elite Pop Warner teams were staying at the hotel for some sort of event at the HOF. Not sure what it was.

Awful lot of 'Canes stuff in the HOF. No coincidence. ;)

I was told the HOF is building a facility next the stadium to house inductees and family. The project is behind schedule but should be complete next year. This is the last year at the Holiday Inn. Your right tho because it this place is not your standard Holiday Inn. Although, it’s not a Grand Hyatt or Marriott quality.

Just talked to crowd outside. Apparently Reed is at the some country club but will make his way over here. Then they told me Sapp was here but yell at them when asked for a autograph. Sapp said leave me alone I just got off the **** plane. Conversation started because one guy has a canes shirt on. Walk back to the bar/restaurant and there Sapp walking right behind me. I stop to shake his hand and said I went to all the games in the 80’s and 90’s. He says STOP with his hand in the air. Dude has problems.

Nobody’s told you about Sapp before? Just for future reference, he’s not a guy you generally approach. Especially if you’re sensitive, or your feelings get hurt easily. He’s more than likely to tell you to go away then he is to give you an autograph, or even talk to you. That’s just the way he is. He’s been that way forever. Sometimes there are exceptions, but with Sapp you have to assume he doesn’t want to see your face

No surprise Sapp acted like that.

Yeah Sapp is Sapp.

Met him, we probably spoke for less than a minute. Said I was sorry I didn't get to see him play for the 'Canes. Didn't ask for an autograph, I did ask if he kept chewing Copenhagen. He laughed.

Knew one of his family who lived near Lake Okeechobee. Said Sapp doesn't come around often to visit relatives, 'cept once a year.

One of the all time greats at the U and the NFL. Just because he's douchy doesn't take away from that. Heard stories of Barry Bonds that were far worse.

Kind of understand it. You get chased after for pictures and autographs for 20 years, no privacy, hanger ons wanting money, fans wanting to talk about football....yeah I can see how that can get old.

Still though, some of his actions off the field are...questionable at best.

It's sad that one of our best all time players is suck a ****. Very stupid man too..filed for bankruptcy immediately when he retired. ****ed it all away. If he dies, he dies.

Could've had a good job as an NFL Analyst, but got busted for solicitation.

In terms of football, he is a genius. But in terms of life...no.

I think Tate is gonna win it all guys.

Sorry, just seemed weird to read so many posts in a row with no mention of the QB comp.

I’ve hung out with big Sapp and never had an issue but I was around people he knew.
He just isn’t very trusting but neither am I; if you get set up a few times you wouldn’t be either.
Saw him in Orlando a few years ago and he was cool with everyone, even random fans coming up.

Our simple minded fans don't seem to understand that the same characteristics/traits that made Sapp a "QB-Killa" is also what makes him truculent. Not only is he one of the greatest pass rushers at the DT position the game has ever seen, but he's also an all time great competitor. For some players it is difficult to turn the switch on & off, even after their playing career is over. For me personally, I could care less about shaking his hand or getting his autograph. As long as he helped MIA win games, a championship, and became a legend on the field thats all that matters to me.
