Hokie Analysts Take On The Canes

They compared 2025 Canes going into this year to Franklin 2024 going into '25.
They point to similarities in overcoming previous issues and the expectation to take the next step.

Yeah, no.
Franklin went 1-3 vs top 10 opponents in '24.
 
Considering that these are fans of an opposing team, I thought it was pretty good and they knew a lot of our players. I don’t know any of their players. Is Drones still the QB at VTech.
Of course they are a little less optimistic than us, but they should be. Fandom isn’t about being completely objective.
 
Man we are gonna mop the floor with these clowns.

What is everyone gonna say when they see Lightfoot and Wilson both with double digit sacks by the middle of November?

You mean the bespoke game plan they designed just for us where they had bull**** plays with two QBs on the field that you never saw them run again all season?

Yeah, you'd think that'd be mentioned more.

This is not the general consensus.

I haven’t seen a single preseason DL ranking that doesn’t have Miami Top 10.

Franklin could build it back alot faster without feeling like once he develops a kid..he will lose them to another school that can pay them alot more.. Yeah, looking at their current recruiting class, I’m not overly excited about the prospect of Franklin playing with that level of talent if I’m a VT fan.

It’s almost entirely borderline 4* and 3* guys. No 5*, and outside of the QB, no 4* that is closer to 5* than 3*.

It’s not going to be much of a talent advantage. And I don’t want Franklin if I’m not overwhelming teams with talent. The same way I wouldn’t want Mario if he wasn’t doing it.

We did a lot of research and it’s evident by the video. Bain is biased towards his school. Of course he’s gonna say that. One of your former 5 stars on the line is no longer with the team - just a bit of a talent hit there.

And that last part is not true. Sam was referring to us playing Minnesota in the bowl game after the 2024 season, aka scouting Heatherman’s defense two years ago.

Still have 4 other 5 stars and 3 of them are at DE in wilson, lightfoot, Blount. Also have to take into account the interior of the defensive line. Moten is a top 5 DT in the country and scott another former 5 star will be top a top DT this year. Can’t replace guys like Bain and Messidor but that d-line isnt lacking talent
