Hodges names UM his leader, sets visit

I like this kid a lot. I think that 4.89 will come right down. Not a burner, but a kid who can do a standing backflip at 6'2 can do some things athletically.

I was the one who asked about his speed. Redwine ran a 4.7 out of HS and could do a back flip too. And now he is running 4.45s with a 40 inch VJ to boot so ill take my chances that this kid can be developed athletically. Sign him up.

Your perception of that area is wayyy off. It isn't 1992 anymore. Western HS has a decent sized population of minorities and Lauderdale kids that moved from out East.

Western's zone has a handful of kids in the NFL right now. Brandon Linder, Jon Feliciano, James White, Brandon Doughty, Giovanni Bernard, Fabian Moreau, etc. That doesn't include the kids who are currently playing D1 ball like Buckshot Calvert, Elijah Moore, Kevin Austin, Adrienne Talan, etc.

Ton of athletes in that area, they all just get poached by STA and Heritage.
I remember playing western in HS for baseball. Them was some country *** white boys lmao. Idk about the minority’ population but they made me feel like I was In north fla/ga

If by North Florida you mean Yule, Callahan, Middleburg, or Lake City. But not Jacksonville city mate

Definitely true. Western, Pembroke Pines and West Miramar (west of I-75 going up Royal Palm Blvd, Pines Blvd, and Miramar Parkway) are definitely not pro-white areas anymore. Mostly Latin and black with some white sprinkled in. The white population who use to frequent those parts are moving way north now.

Confused. Live in Davie, have my whole
Life. Not sure if this is true about Western. I went to western/played football at western. I do know they have been getting plucked a very long time from STA, Davie and Cooper City have. Western part of Davie is for the most part white.

I can’t believe he’s a take but Delancy isn’t. I hope I’m wrong on this.

No shade on the kid but is he really a take? @Stefan Adams I noticed you predicted him to UM. What you hearing?

Similar to the Te'Cory Couch situation early last cycle, he had to wait a few months to be able to commit. Hodges will commit if given the green light, Miami is where he wants to be and I doubt another school can change that, but a lot of others ahead of him at corner right now including Davis, Lawrence, Cavazos, and Harrell. I'd imagine UM will wait and see where they stand with those guys after a few months before taking Hodges, but I also didn't expect them to take Damarius Good last year at the time they did.

IF IF IF this is true...I don't and never will understand why UM even uses the word "offer" in this situation...Unless it's a mutual agreement with the kid that by reporting an "offer" UM is helping his stock rise?

Also Stefan...Where is Pough at on the corner board?

Thanks for the response and it makes sense. I could see us grabbing 2-3 of the guys you listed to join Francois.

Have you heard anything about Ringo possibly visiting?

He doesn't seem to be on it

Quite a few minority filled neighborhoods East of Western High within the school's boundary. I mean, it ain't Hialeah or Overtown, but it's a lot more colorful than it used to be. In the 90's/early 2000's Western was lucky if they had 3 black kids on their football team.

Where Western is...is predominately white. Cooper City and that area is definately is.

Miramar for the most part is caribbean and always been...everything west of hiatus/i-75..pembroke and miramar is predominantly white still.

Most of the wealthy residents way out west send their kids to Heritage now. Western and even Cypress Bay have gotten a little too brown for their tastes.

I was there from 2002-2006. My junior senior year of high school probably had a total of5-10 black kids. I know years after there were more flowing in but not crazy amounts. I grew up on Pine Island and 84. I know the neighborhoods quite well, definitely more than use too but not a considerable amount.

Cooper City is a lot different. The high school only draws from the city and almost the entirety of Cooper City is upper middle class. Before Flanagan got built a lot of the Hispanic kids from Pines (myself included) would get bussed to Cooper but once Flanagan opened in the late 90s, Cooper City became like 90% white kids. Flanagan is almost completely Hispanic kids. Western draws from a much larger area than Cooper. It's no longer just the kids with horses and pickup trucks.

Cooper City might be the whitest neighborhood/public school in all of Broward County. LOL
The year I was DC there I had one black kid on my entire defense. (who's now at Alcorn State)
I had a mixed DE and two mixed CB's though. (so I had 2.5 black kids on my starting D)

Great kids though! And they had un-matched neighborhood/booster support. The right coach can get treated like a god in that town. I'm surprised they didn't build a statue for Art Taylor.

Western has one of the best natural draws in Broward, in my opinion.
The QB and OL talent in their boundary is legit.
They will always have good QB's and tough a$$ O-Linemen. Getting enough skill kids is the issue.

You could argue that they're the "QB U" of South FLA high school football right now. (in terms of production in high school)
Their last 3 QB's have lit Broward on fire...and that's while throwing to sub-par skill kids. (other than Elijah Moore)
It's gotten to the point where QB's dads are now BRINGING their sons to Western. Their OC is a Cane alum and does a phenomenal job with QB's.
Tyler Manaco threw for 3500 yards and was All State.
Harrison Story replaced him and won Broward Offensive Player of the Year.
Jessie Rivera replaced him and was All State.
And now they have some kid who transferred from Monarch.

With that QB and OL talent, if they kept the Elijah Moore's and Kevin Austin's they'd be state bound.

Coach Taylor was a legend. Was a junior there the year they beat STA. School still hasn't recovered from him leaving.
