The OL is a major obstacle to beating any elite team this year.

Other than OL, however, this thread is actually not totally insane.

Enos showed just how much confidence he has (and how much he believes) in Jarren at today’s presser.

I don’t believe QB will be a limiting factor for us this year given our schedule prior to the ACC Championship. Neither will RB, WR, TE, DL (1.8 YPC vs. crocs is elite), LB, DB.

So big dreams are only somewhat crazy because of our OL situation.

Yeah, especially after watching Kelly, today's message board fan would have not have been happy with Bernie's performance that game. Probably would have roasted Gary Stevens' playcalling, too. It was his first year as OC, so that would definitely have been called into question.

It's not nonsensical. We are not going to compete for a NC this year, but there are lessons to he learned. We list the house that opener by 25 in 1983. We almost won this one despite a multitude of mistakes, many related to youth and inexperience.

We have so many despondent people on this board who want to fire the coaches, stop supporting the team, etc.

The point is, for a very young team with an almost totally new coaching staff, things can get better this year

I'd bet those boards in 1983 would've been saying a national championship was an impossibility, since we'd just lost to the gator 28-3.

Think about that for a second. We gave up 4 touchdowns and only got a single field goal.

Actually, Kelly had hardly played the year before. Hurt in the first game I think and out for the year. Richt and Vandewende played most of 1982.

Hopefully, we'll show continued improvement. We didn't get blown out and we probably have superior talent to Florida. They had an experience edge. To only lose by four despite a million mistakes and sacks shows you how inferior they are in terms of talent.

I could see it happening our schedule is as simple as it gets and if Miami wins out and upsets Clemson in the ACCCG you all better believe Miami will be #1 or top 4 easily and in the playoffs especially if Clemson is undefeated.

Honest question, do you feel worse after this loss or last years loss to LSU?

True, but our fans still would have had that as a recent benchmark of what a QB should look like. I can just hear the narrative now. We would have made that next step in the 1982 season if Kelly hadn't been injured, now we've got nothing at QB and an unproven OC......same old Miami!

Beating Clemson would be like us beating Neb in 83. And IF if we do by some crazy miracle beat clemson we would be in the playoffs and no matter what happened in the playoffs, hard to say it wouldn't be a successful season on par with 83.

The LSU loss felt worse because Rosier was still the QB and there wasn’t much hope for the offense moving forward.

But this one feels bad because it was there for the taking, and, above all, it was a loss to the filthy reptiles.

I hear you. For me though LSU was much worse. We were embarrassed and the rest of the season looked bleak with Richt calling plays and Rosier at QB. I still have high hopes for this season and was encouraged by a lot of things I saw Saturday.

You could say that and remember that Clemson at that point will have A WORLD OF MAJOR PRESSURE to win while Miami will likely be the biggest underdog in history with no pressure at all and by that time hopefully Miami's Oline has improved where it plays atleast decent if they do watch out.
 
Bernie was down right awful that game. We had 7 turnovers and I think Bernie was sacked at least 6 plus times. Next week against Houston we scored 1 touchdown but won. Bernie got better. The offensive line got better and we improved week over week. Should have lost to East Carolina and would have if the two receivers did not collide into each other. Beat a mediocre FSU team in Tallahassee on a last second field goal by Flea Davis.
