Historic Season

That say's we would be the 1st team to play a home game for a title. We got 4 titles that were won at home.
we've ended up National Champs 3x following "home" Orange Bowl wins ('83, '87, '91)

remember that the Bowl Coalition (later BCS) started in '92 in an effort to have #1 play #2 as a formal way to have a National Championship game.

since then, no team has won the Natty at home/in their home stadium (we had a chance to do so in the '94 season against Nebraska in the Orange Bowl but came up short)

in short- we would be the first to do so if/when we bring home #6

I think the statement of being the 1st team to play at home for a title is referring to the new CFP format.

I keep seeing the term, for the first time in history, being thrown around quite a bit lately when they’re talking about the CFP.

So far, we’ve won 3 national title games while playing at home back in 83, 87 & 91. If the Canes are able to pull this off and win the 2025 CFP, it would make it the 4th time that we’ve played at home for a national title and won it all. Dam, I sure do like the sound of that!!

Let’s Go Canes!!

I forget, didn't #2 win its bowl game, so even if Miami pulled that game out, we still wouldn't have been the champions? Still p*ssed me off to lose that game though
