Hiring an Offensive Coordinator is not the solution

Why do any of you think Richt would even allow another OC to come in and run his own offense unimpeded and unharassed? Of course he wouldn't. He would be micromanaging him, overruling him, countermanding his authority, shadowing and criticizing him at every step. For that matter, why would any reasonably competent OC even consider taking such a turdtacular position with no upside and 100% downside?

100% agree. Unfortunately, because of the needless extension he handed Richt I think flake cooked his own goose and tied his career to Richt. They are going down together. Which means we are about to embark on their final ride in 2019. Game 1 will be an absolute massacre and I predict both will be let go before the end of the season.

Our recruiting class is a total loss and because of the dumpster fire Richt put on display last night, there is no saving it. We will end up with the worst class since I started following recruiting and I’m sure most of you as well.

If he lost the locker room there’s only one way to get it back. But he won’t do it. It would mean bringing in a new OC, finding a new job for his son elsewhere, and getting out of the way.

The worst is still yet to come.
 
IMO the OC is a dead issue and will be cmr’s demise. I can only imagine that any OC would want the qb coach gone and maybe even the o line coach. At least one of those isn’t happening.
The hold up with FSU and briles was just that.
I don’t t see any scenario in the universe where cmr tells John boy to kick rocks.
 
I agree whole heartedly. However, Richt is not getting fired this year and I would even argue next year, regardless (within reason) of the outcome of 2019. Therefore, an OC is a must. No way around it.

Pretty sure people realize that UM firing Blake is not going to happen and I’m positive OP realizes that. However that doesn’t take away from his point that the real issue is not solved by an OC

Trust me I see it. That’s why I’m done with this joke of a program and why no one here should support Miami any longer.

Blake James isn't getting fired and what you're looking at here is what the University of Miami is present day. Dr. Julio Frenk couldn't care less if Blake James or Blake Bortles is the AD. Donna Shalala completely transformed this university in her 15-year tenure.

This is a small, private school in a large, diverse metropolitan city. Athletics will never reign supreme or be the cash cow is at larger school in football-driven college towns. Between the money Miami gets from adidas and the ACC rev-share deal, they're more than content.

Look at the past two ADs before James; this isn't a destination job for most quality ADs. They come to Miami from somewhere smaller and it's a pit stop en route to bigger gigs—Hocutt to Texas Tech and Eichorst to Nebraska. UM would be a revolving door of ADs—unless there were a former football alum who truly wanted the job and were willing to sign up for it. These suits like Hocutt and Eichorst are no better a solution than James.

Three years into Richt, he's not going anywhere for at least another two years—so buckle in for the ride. All you're gonna get for now is that lipstick on a pig, so better hope the OC hire is at least a good enough one, or things will continue to devolve.

We're 15 years into this disaster and the program was 60-47 from Coker's final year to Al's firing. Richt won the Coastal year two, reached the Orange Bowl and had a 10-win season. Not only does that buy him time—but that level of success is literally all Miami expects out of a coach; winning division titles and at least GETTING to an ACC title game. Get used to it.
