Highsmith to the U?

I don't disagree.

We know pro coaches are comfortable with it so maybe a CFB coach might be curious to try. But, certainly, it could be a source of contention. I'm not aware of any HC in CFB that isn't responsible (to steal Parcells' line) of picking the ingredients and cooking the meal. I guess you could convince a HC that permitting Zo to be in charge of scouting frees up HC during the season to focus on what actually matters on Saturday. I can't imagine that coaches enjoy texting 17 y/o kids and watching game film of recruits during the season?
Its an interesting idea that if it worked probably would be copied everywhere else. It could point to Mario coming here because maybe their history would allow this to work.

I think you're making it more than what it is.

Let's assume--because again, we don't know--that Alonzo's role is that of a general manager of sorts. Let's assume he is heavily involved in scouting. He implements culture. He is there day in, day out and meets regularly with HC concerning players, transfer market, scout, scheme, personnel, etc. If he (or anyone in that position) reports to the AD, why would that threaten an AD? An AD isn't capable to do those things, nor does an AD have the time to be around the football team 24/7. If there is a very clear job description put in place that the "GM" (Alonzo) reports to the AD, I don't see why that would be a problem. Quite frankly, if I'm the AD, I'd be excited with bringing a pro structure to college and maybe starting a new trend.

I think where there may be conflict is between GM and HC, which we see all the time in pro sports. That to me is far, far more of an issue than between GM and AD.
Doesn't Louiville already implement this model of a general AD and associate ADs overseeing each sport that report to the AD?

It's fake insider season

Buckle up everyone has sauces!

If Zo is being brought in for a football-only role, and someone like Jurich is being brought in for AD, you should assume that the prospective AD has already signed off on Zo's role.
Jurich is not under contract. Miami can speak to him on or off the record anytime and without any buffers.

None of this makes any sense. Highsmith is not overseeing the baseball and women’s BB programs. No AD is working for a school which already has someone in place for football.
Jurich as AD, Highsmith comes on board as Asst AD in charge of Football Recruiting and Player Development, working day to day with the head coach.

A Zurich and Zo combination, with real $$$ from UHealth now coming to the football team.. and possibly Mario..

If all this ends up being true, Julio Frenk deserves a huge Thank you! Like a banner Thank you

We turned into an SEC school overnight

And, from reading the good and bad from Louisville fans about Zurich, we couldn't have found a better, more qualified, candidate. 0ne thing UL fans seem to agree on, Jurich puts winning above everything!

Man, I'm hoping this is all true.

For the major revenue sports, I'm willing to bet that the AD has a lot of say so and those Associate ADs are glorified stooges for what the AD and HC want. What business leader turns over control of their most profitable divisions to someone else and and doesn't remain hands on?
