Hey Peter Re: Ryan Mayes

Not a new Canes Fan but new to this board posting (But I have followed the board for a few years).

On the CB Position - I went to the Spring game at Lockhart stadium about 6 or 7 years ago I believe, (Team was under Randy Shannon) at that time. This was when he first converted Sam Shields to CB and watching Shields during the Spring Game, he struggled (getting abused) because he was new to the position. The one thing I saw about Shields was how tight his coverage was, he was on the hip of the receiver every time.

I told the group I was with (one of the group that I was with is a HS head Coach that has won it all down here) that he struggling now but he will be good once he get the reps, then his technique will come and then the confidence will come.

My Point - If you take an athletic Kid, with Speed and Twitch hips (like Shields) and a good CB coach you can make a good CB out of them a lot of the time. A lot of you clowns downing on MIKE RUMPH and you don't know the game. All Sam Shields needed was The Reps, The Coaching and then came the Confidence.

If the coaching staff keep practicing at this intense level and giving Ryan Mayes and Malek Young The Reps they need and the Coaching for the next 3 weeks before opener, the Confidence will come for both and we will have 5 CB's who can play for this season. Mayes and Young are both Athletic and Rumph will prove many of you clowns wrong.

Sam Shields may prove to be the best CB to ever come out of U of M. (He struggled badly at that Spring game), look at him now.

I don't see Jackson and Henley doing much, but I see it in Mayes and Young.

Wish Rumph could have coached Tracy Howard, Artie Burns, and Gunter (Even DVD, Brandon McGee, Shields and Brandon Harris) for that matter going back further. Like Manny Diaz said they want CB's who can play Man (Fast athletic aggressive dudes).

Rumph will have Mayes and Young Ready, I see it coming. Some of you jump gun way to soon. By the way Marco Wilson may be scared to come to UM because he knew Bandy, Henderson, Edwards, Blades and Ivey are locked in and worried about playing time.

Stop blaming Rumph, Judge the man by the product he puts on the field this season.

My impression has been that no one has blamed Rumph's coaching ability. They have blamed him for being a failure so far as a recruiter.

Never been Banned from any Board, Don't need you to follow anything.

The point is Bashing Rumph is not needed, when he has yet to play a game.

So you saw Mayes run a 5 flat 40? yea right

Because Marco Wilson, did not come here, move on.

Wilson maybe scared of the competition and the Depth of 2017 and 2018

+1 for having a post, in your first 5, worth a ****!!

Ryan Mayes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp6IcuJxkiE (Kid has Flashes in HS and Looks like legit 4.5 speed)

Mark Richt Stated
"Richt Likes what CB Ryan Mayes Is Doing in Camp. Says CONSISTENCY is much Better and he has had some impressive Picks"

CONSISTENCY = CONFIDENCE as I stated (You now know what the H... You are doing).

Mayes is a lot larger and faster than what's listed.

The only thing that has changed with him is he's now playing free, loose, and unafraid. Some players need to be coddled a little bit and instilled with confidence, and Mayes is just that type. I'm biased bc I know his mentor (a true mentor), but Rumph (I know, I know) has done wonders for him on the mental side.

LOL at Mayes stripping Choc Gray in his highlight tape. And folks wonder why Gray will never play here.

Maybe Kid just did not understand that complicated crap that did not work that Dnofrio was trying to run.

The System and The Position Coaching Fits theses kids a lot better.

I admit I wasnt a fan of Mayes. Didnt think he had "it". I thought by him transferring from Krop to MNW that he would get the dog in him by being around some hood dudes. And I still wasnt blown away by his SR year output....

BUT no one will ever say that he didnt "look" the part of a stud DB. He has great size and good enough speed. (not sure where Chise' got the 5 flat from..I always thought he was a 4.6 kid). Anyone who is 6'1 195 playing DB and has good technique and good speed and can be coached up will always give themselves a shot.

Plus this kid knew this was his last shot. We got some superstuds coming in the next two classes at DB. If he didnt make a name for himself this year..he was better off just going to FAMU or "Last Chance" U.

Mayes has..dare I say it..swag bro

Two years ago against Duke he was nearly penalized for pretend snapping a photo of Tracy Howard after a play.

Last season he tried to fight Roberto Aguayo.

Definition of swag bro=trying to fight the kicker.

The Reason Why I Take Richt Comments Serious About This Team

Simple, Richt has seen Elite Football Before (has experience with it). At FSU, At UGA. He has Experience coaching Elite Teams and Elite players.
So with that being said, he knows what GOOD PLAY is on the field. If the Secondary Sucks he knows, because he has been around good Secondaries and other units as well.

He was straight Forward when he said WR group was lacking in the spring.

If you going in to have surgery done, you want a surgeon who has done it, has seen it all and has experience with what is suspossed to be.

Al Golden was not a bad guy, just was not use to coaching Elite Football at the highest levels (Takes top coaches and top talent).

You know when you have the real thing, when you have had it before, confident that this team will be much better this season.

Gotta be the worst highlight video must I've heard yet. Had to mute it. Downgrade the kid half a star just on that.

How is Mike Jackson doing?

Not to be a **** but who gives a ****? This a thread stating that Mayes has finally turned a corner and it seems people want to harp on another golden special.
