Jimbo was never considering LSU. He was just faking interest so he could get raises for himself and his assistants.
 
Miami hurricane fans said they would start Herman to LSU rumors in order to get Jimbo antsy and jumping at LSU before Herman...wonder if another fan base beat us to it.

Texas doesn't give a **** about Strong's race. If he's not winning, they will give him the boot and thumb their noses at any such political correctness. It's TEXAS, remember?

Herman will end up at Texas unless he is a real redneck. Austin v, BR... if you're not a redneck the choice is easy

And BTW, Strong hasn't won more than 6 games in 3 years at Texas. Matter a fact, minus the two years (2012-2013) where Bridgewater carried that Louisville program, Strong has averaged a sterling 6 wins over the remaining 5 seasons as a HC. How could you want him over M. Richt?

We'll be better next season by experience in the system alone (If Kaaya comes back). We have a real staff and no one player carries the team. Irrespective of individual players we get here or there, Miami needs another recruiting class or two before we know what this staff can do.
 
Sure it matters. Whose head rolls? The president? Show me one major university where the president was fired for not firing a football coach? I'll wait. All sorts of people will fall before the university president gets the axe.

Man I wish it was that simple. I know we had boosters who wanted Shalala gone. The BOT hires and fires the president. University presidents are like little kings or queens. They certainly are wise to listen to big donors, but often big donors have more at play than just who's coaching the football team - like lucrative business relationships with or through the school.

It depends on who the donor is and the President/BOT relationship. Yea the final decision is up to the President but it takes a special kind of President to stand against the BOTs for a coach who hasn't won more than 6 games in 3 years; one of which he won 5 games. That won't fly at any major program... Especially not for a black man at the University of Texas.

If the president is in fact standing up for Strong, he's either not standing alone or his support is lip service. Presidents don't get to be president by being stupid. Most are excellent politicians/negotiators - fundraising being their main concern. My point is that major universities don't fire the university president over the football coach mainly because it never comes to that. Again, I refuse to believe there were no bigtime UM boosters who wanted Shalala gone.
