### Whereas Dan Campbell changed a lot after replacing Joe Philbin, UM players Chris Herndon, Kc McDermott and Rayshawn Jenkins said interim coach Larry Scott hasn’t changed a single tangible thing from the way Golden operated.

The only difference, Jenkins said, is “we have more energy. He’s always telling people to run instead of walk.” Said Herndon: Scott “is a comedian. He connects with us, makes us laugh.”

### One UM official said there was nobody on the defensive staff qualified to replace Mark D’Onofrio as coordinator over the final five games, and D’Onofrio said he’s not surprised that he remains employed here after Golden’s firing.

Why Fire Golden if nothing was going to change? Don't get me wrong Golden needed to be gone 2 years ago, but there needs to be schematic changes that take advantage of the talent we have.
 
Basically MArk created himself such a complex system that only he can understand and run it, and there is not enough time left in the season to implement a new system, so he needs to stay on and guide the ship into the rocks for the last 5 games. The fact that he is still on staff is a clear indication that his system is overly complicated. Nobody on staff really understood it at its lower levels, much less the players.

That indicates to me that his system has no business at this level due to its level of detail, but in IT I have seen guys implement solutions like this and job security is an underlying factor as to why.

y'know what? Don't even care. Last 5 games are a wash with a lame duck staff. I'm rooting like **** for the kids to win as much as they can, but at the end of the day we're already looking to December as the new start of Hurricanes football.

Beat me to it. I ain't even mad. My only hope for this season was a coaching change, and we got it. Now if they hire Mario, then my blood will boil.

It's an indictment of Al Golden that not one other coach knew enough about the Defense to step in and run a simplified version of it, how the **** are the players gonna figure it out when only 2 people understand it

I took this to mean that no one is capable of running the defense because they are not seasoned enough to do so. In other words they're saying that the assistant coaches on Dfense suck.

I don't understand why anyone thought any differently. These clowns were hired because of their loyalty to Golden and his system. If you actually thought that this would all change overnight is in serious need of professional help

LOL Just watch as these fools crash and burn into bolivia like a giant runaway **** rolling downhill gaining speed, getting bigger and bigger, losses that are worse each week, amplifying the stupidity and incompetence of it all until it deservedly crash lands on Blake in its final resting place. All good.
 
I would love to see us win out, but let's face it that ain't happening. Frankly, I don't see how we win another game. Let's just get this season over with and get the right guy in place by December.
 
Kareem Brown could not possibly call a worse game than Mark D'Onfrio. Don't give us the BS of "nobody else was qualified".

For crying out loud, what does that tell you about the man in charge of the defense that isn't developing coaches?

Think about it, your LB coach, DB coach and Dline coach aren't capable of running the defense!!! IT explains why were are so bad on defense, Folden hired a bunch of former players, Grad assistants and high school coaches with no real experience so that there would be no threat to Donofritos job. I'm betting there isn't another Power 5 team with this much amateur coaching in the country

Would love to see the kids freelancing on defense and making as many plays as they can. Seems like that's the only way we are going to see improvement.
 
This season was lost from the start. Al was fired because the shiitstorm was too great. People were grabbing their pitchforks and headed down to Blake's office. It doesn't matter. If they would have brought in someone new. You can't change your entire scheme in mid season. This team wasn't all of a sudden going to run the table if someone else came in. Right now it's all about finding the right guy and moving forward.
