John Jancek.
It's been discussed on various threads, but I haven't seen a thread dedicated to his Xs and Os or an in-depth look.
Key points:
- spent five seasons at Georgia with Richt (05-09) as a LBs coach and co-defensive coordinator at the very end of his tenure
- Was co-DC for the infamous GA defense that gave up 30+ points/game
- Coached Cincy to a Top 20 ranking in scoring defense in 2011 and 2012
- In 2011, at Cincy, had his unit lead the nation in tackles for loss per game (almost 9)
- Same year, was 2nd in the nation in sacks per game at nearly 3.5
- Has been the DC at UTennessee for the last three years
- In his first year as UTenn DC, improved the defense by over 100 yards/game and 11 points/game
- They are #4 in the nation (!) in a key stat for me this year: 3rd down % defense
- 44th in total defense
- 55th in sacks
- 80th in tackles for loss
I guess what everyone wants to know is what does he run. Here's what he rocked at Cincy:

I've talked a lot about 4-3 under and 4-3 over, along with 3-4 one gap (like Aranda) in the last couple days.
If you look at the picture above, our personnel fits perfectly:
AQM (7-t)
Gerald Willis or Norton or Moten (3-t)
Courtel Jenkins or Norton (1-t or 0-shade)
Chad Thomas or Gerald Willis (5-t)
Grace (Will)
Owens/Young (Mike)
Young/Owens (Sam)
I have lots of questions, though, obviously.
