ND's Special teams are stellar. They are well coached, and it shows. They are gifted at drawing penalties to extend drives and using unexpected formations or personnel to get their unprepared opponents to waste TO's....a Mario specialty!! Blocked punts and fake punts/field goals are game changers in games as tightly contested as this one will be!

I am mystified how Mario hasn't overhauled special teams yet. Outside of some good individual talent pieces we've had, the unit as a whole has seemed an afterthought his entire tenure.

He hired a former NFL SP coach who was an analyst here. Some Arab fellow who only lasted one year, but it was the year Brashard Smith ran back that kickoff against A&M.
