That's really dumb. You think the true freshman have regressed week to week? True freshman are true freshman, and they are going to make a lot of mistakes and they are physically not as strong as someone 3 or 4 years older. But a ton of true freshman were all over the field making plays and running around. I think we were playing three freshmen safety at a time for most of the game. That's insane in conference.
it was a bad game, some bad play calling by the coaches but some good play calling by the coaches as well. Lots of mistakes with the fumbles, the two-point interception and the missed FG.
North Carolina looked okay too, so I wouldn't be surprised if they beat pitt.
Bottom line it was a win. An ugly win but a win. Probably up to about a 40 to 50% chance of winning out. Still odds are still against that happening. Next week is Manny's career. But two things are indisputably true:
1. You don't fire a coach ending the season in year three on a six game winning streak, with the number of injuries they've had and the hardest schedule in the country. (I personally wouldn't fire Manny if he ended up 7-5, 5-3, but I doubt the administration could withstand the pressure if that's what happens.)
2. Whoever coaches this team the next two season is going to inherit some really skilled young players.
