Here’s a scenario...

Texas Tech is not an easy place to win at. Texas A&M and Texas take all the local talent and you’re left picking up the scraps. But if you pair him with an elite DC and give him Miami talent, then we’re going to make waves.

Jimmy Johnson wasn’t winning a lot of games at Oklahoma State before we hired him, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t a good coach.
Mike leach was winning 9/8 games every year at Texas tech. Along with a 11 win season...Texas has plenty of talent..even b4 leach they we’re always going to bowls under spikes and from time to time ripped off 9 win seasons.

I’m not knocking kliff for not making them a prerinial power..but kliff had them playing below a standard that had been set. Even worse then they were in the 90s...he’s not a monster recruiter. Never has been..he also thought baker mayfield wasn’t good enough to start for him..kliff is exactly what lane kiffin became excluding the assholeness...he’s overrated at this point in terms of what he can do as a HC.

lastly what makes you think he would come here and recruit at the level needed. South Florida is the most competitive recruiting area in the south east..maybe the entire country

Maybe, but he’s a better option than a lot of the other loser corches people are suggesting around here. Wario? I mean...give me a break.
He is not a better option then Mario..**** hes not a better option then manny staying imo..and that’s saying a whole lot..he’s the new handsome boy wonder of coaching..it my life time that title belonged too sarkisian..then Kiffin..now Kliff..

If you wouldn’t trade him for Diaz, I don’t know what to say.

I’m not going to say he’s a slam dunk hire, but he may be the best of a bunch of terrible options. I mean think about the other realistic names being tossed around this board. Most of them would be nightmares.

Hey, guys, I just want to score 40 a game and be entertained. I’m sorry if people don’t like my idea but it’s just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to theirs.

Kingsbury is *** bro, he's a horrendous HC.

And Cristobal is never coming here, he'd be retarded if he did. Oregon is a far better program than Miami & gives way more financial support to their Football program than we do, leaving Oregon would be a downgrade.

Norvell is best & most realistic option, but we're going to miss the boat on him because he's about to get a P5 job this offseason.
But that’s my point, man. Norvell would be a great hire, same with Rhule, Campbell, etc....but we’re not going to land any of them. Which leaves us with who exactly when Manure gets canned?

I don’t necessarily disagree with you about Kliff — you bring up a lot of great points — but who else is there?

Any idea?

I was a big Baber’s fan until this year, but now I’m not so sure about him anymore. Cuse really underperformed.

Cuse is a place that no matter who the coach is will be up and down..Barbers is a quality coach..Pj fleck just had a amazing presser yesterday..but I 1000% would bet any amount of money that Minnesota will not sustain the level of success he reached this season..Matt Campbell same..8/9 win coaches don’t automatically equate to wins at their next big stop..if manny doesn’t work, and it’s trending that way it will be a mistake to go that route imo

Not sure I follow. So what route would you go?

A top 10 ten coach from a traditional program whose had success atop a power 5 conference

Saban
Smart
Day
Meyer
Dabo
Jimbo
Coach O
Riley
Franklin
Cristobal

We need a coach who understands what it takes and how to compete at the level we want to compete at. That’s the route I would try and go.

What does he have on his resume over Diaz? Other then perception..look at the resume without knowing the name on the resume..he scores a lot of points and loses. He took over a program that had a respectable winning tradition and went backwards..then somehow got a NFL HC out of it

When are people going to get it....in today’s college football if you’re not buying the best roster you can your absolute ceiling is the occasional NY6 bowl. That’s the harsh reality, there is no ******* coach who is going to come in here and start crushing it week in and week out. There will be a couple of bad losses, like there is with just about every other team out there, and that coach will get killed turning everything toxic.
Fans, teams, most importantly community and recruiting base

Why do we do this, meaning burn it all down after a bad loss or two........because after 60 years of absolute domant football we had a 25 year run that was amazing and our school is located in S Fl. The only thing we had going for us, recruiting base, was negated with big *** sacks of money and the cheap cell phone plan. That advantage further eroded with social media. No longer did coaches have to come down here and go into the community.

This is 2020 almost. To win in today’s game you need to pony up.....like majorly. I bet teams like Bama/LSU/UGA have like 25-30 million dollar yearly operations going on with their football teams.
