Herbstreit analyzes Miami. And Richt gets broadcast job for Miami v Florida

Right, which is why UM has a new coach. Because that last guy would have let whatever talent Miami had go to waste

Clearly on the offensive side.

My only concerns are quite honestly, that sometimes it takes time to mesh, and it does take time to get that the losing habit out of people. That’s why Manny keeps talking about let’s see what these guys have when they are challenged, when they’re punched in the mouth, when things don’t go their way.

Because in the past they would fold up. I’m just praying it doesn’t take too long but I’m willing to accept that it might take longer than I want it to.

I'll actually amend my comment a bit, because if that last guy/staff would have still been here, there would have been more than a few transfers

But yeah, a culture and mentality re-set is needed at UM, no doubt

FSU was atrocious - Florida pounded them
That was the common theme in those four games. They had 200 yds rushing against Idaho, and Franks and Emory Jones combined for 400 yards of passing (massively padded their stats). Against FSU, they had 280 yards on the ground and Franks threw for 3 TD's and 254 yards. Against, South Carolina, they had 367 yards on the ground, and Franks threw for 161 yards and 1 TD. Against Michigan, he threw for 173 yards, 1 TD, and they rushed for 257 yds on the ground (Franks rushed for 74 and a TD).

In all their losses, they couldn't break 200 yards of rushing. If they can't get their running game going, they don't win. They had a big advantage in the run game last year with a solid OL, this year that advantage is gone.

One part of the analysis I disagree with Herbie on is regarding Franks. It's not saying much that he had a great last 3 out of 4 games last season. Two of those teams were Idaho (moving to D2 level ball) and FSU (need I say more) who were absolutely atrocious. Another game was against a South Carolina team that allowed more than 350 yards rushing (Franks didn't win that game for them) and a Michigan team that was without starters and mailed it in after losing to OSU.

Franks benefited last year from an OL with three NFL caliber starters, and two other starters that had major reps in their career. This new UF OL starts four new guys, of which one (their OC) has actual playing time. Not to mention, the majority of the guys are low 3-star recruits. I don't think he's going to be as consistent or good as people think.

We also have to remember that Franks was benched during the Mizzou beatdown and wasn't going to start the next week against South Carolina. Kyle Trask got injured in practice and that gave him an opening.
This is exactly my thoughts. Thanks for saving me from typing all of that. You nailed it bro!

Not a bash at Herbie in any way as I love that dude and he has always seemed to like our Canes, but man does this comment irk me...

"We have a chance to have a competitive game". A "chance" that the game is "competitive"?!? Fvck that, there is a very real chance we win this game outright! But that perfectly illustrates what the national perception is about these teams right now. And this quote here is not from a Cane hater at all.

Our moment is now, gents! In front of a football starved nation where anyone and everyone who likes the sport will be tuned in, we need to make a statement, change this impression and narrative and grab our freakin respect back. THE TIME IS NOW!

It’s not they can be beat, it is they will be beaten badly 100%. And our D will absolutely pound Franks.

Franks will not finish the game, my prediction has been before the end of the 3Q.
Talent wise, this might be the best D we've had in years. I would really hate to be a QB going up against us. Oh, and I think Greg Rousseau makes a name for himself Saturday. Huge debut for him.

This sums it up.

Honestly, as long as JJ had Gary Stevens(an absolutely QB guru) I think that QB pipeline would have kept going
True. Although as good as Gary was he was a step down from Earl Morrall, RIP. Old flat top was just a volunteer coach but Kelly, Bernie, Vinnie all together one year --wow. That said, I'll take Gary too.
