Herbert Update

My bold prediction a month and a half ago was that they would land both Slaton/Herbert. There has been a quiet confidence about it.

Pete, would it be safe to say that these guys are a package deal if the choice is UM or Michigan? Seems like they are attached at the hip.

Would be a huge pull on multiple fronts. First, we just need a lot of help up front. Secondly, if we keep Donaldson, we would pull 3 out of the 4 big time OL recruits down here. It would be great for perception

An OL class of Herbert, Slaton, Donaldson, Gaynor, Dykstra and Hillery would solve our OL problems within 2 years easily.

From what I'm gathering there's a possibility of 6 offensive linemen alone being brought in this cycle - Donaldson (starter material and our most important recruit), Slaton (close to starter), Hillery (red-shirt who'll likely see playing time in his 3rd year), Dykstra (same as Hillery), Gaynor (same as Hillery), and Herbert who just needs a red-shirt for S&C purposes.

I'm okay with that approach as you'd only need 2-3 linemen next cycle and we can phase other guys out whom are about to graduate or just were bad takes from previous cycles.

1 year, easily

Them along with transfer we got from LSU are instant plug and plays that will add much needed depth

That's two deep in a much maligned unit. +2 wins instantly just by getting these guys in

Herbert could use a rs but wont get one because thats their pitch to get him. Herbert might not start but will probably be in the 2 deep and get reps.

A haul of Herbert-Slaton-Donaldson is the kind of next level recruiting we haven't seen in a minute around here. That's how you build champions.

Don't forget Bateman he's not out of it yet either

Brown is also basically a 2017 recruit as well.

And he's legit I liked him when he signed with LSU especially as a run blocker

If he does sign with the U once NSD letter is received the S&C staff can work with him through sending him programs, regimens, etc. and he can be on his path to being 295 plus when he arrives and stronger. He will be able get that playing time.

Get both AH OL & set that pipeline up to secure Campbell in 18'. Rumph will go from recruiting bum to demigod status on CIS real quick.
