Heatherman and Dawson BOTH extended

Dawson was in the running for many HC jobs. Wouldn’t be surprised when the offense improves this year if he’s gone.
Didn’t see anything on Hetherman, surprisingly. I’m sure they happened
If he didn’t leave after cam or this deep playoff run running different offenses basically showing versatility of his scheme to match personal…

Unless a Texas, LSU, or other big SEC job opens up he’s probably happy being given into his lap NFL talent to play alongside blue chip HS QBs or a top Portal QB if need be. Oh and he gets to live in Miami and be expected to do the minimum on the recruiting trail lol what a ROUGHHHHH life as a coach

I’ll never forget that first drive against Florida when he utilized pre snap motion. People were ready to give him a life time extension, it went downhill fast from there
I always laugh because we were sooooooo starved for offense that everyone hypes that drive up and we didnt even score a touchdown.. But now they wanna fix they mouth about Dawson after guys like Nix, Enos, Gattis... Incredible

With his age(Dawson), he’s really only got one shot at the HC thing. Better to have a good job and the right to be picky. I’m sure he’s probably paid ridiculously well now. No reason to even entertain a G5 job. Or even a lower P5 job.
at his age...unless its a serious HC gig, why leave Miami? He's making a couple million $ a year, living in Miami, has ELITE playmakers at his disposal while also knowing his QB will be protected by one of the best OLs in CFB year after year.

As an OC, it's literally a wet dream!

Love this. A lot of people who complained about Dawson don’t appreciate what he’s been able to do here.

Man had a top 35 offense with Tyler Van Dyke.
I think people are really gonna see what Dawson is capable of this year. He's got a FULL ****nal at his disposal.

We can start to question him if he doesn't take a big step this year with the weapons that we have available.

The fact that i don’t see Mario ever leaving at anytime we might finally get the results we might/would have gotten if Howard/Jimmy/Butch had never left which should give any OC/DC a reason to stay until their ultimate job comes along.

They will get paid equally or more than FBS school HC’s and most lower rated P4 jobs without all the extra headaches of a HC which gives us the continuity that recruits will gave to be very fond of knowing they will more than likely be playing their whole time with the same guy.

I don't simply because we won't need to.

Last year, Vandy had the #1 offense in YPP and #8 in scoring.
They had the #72 defense in YPP allowed, and #53 in scoring.

North Texas had the #1 scoring offense and #2 in YPP.
They were #83 in scoring defense, and #56 in YPP allowed.

I think we see the point.

You rarely have the #1 offense if you don't need to, because your defense is so bad. And we won't need to, because our defense won't be bad.

Could we maybe have an Indiana-like season this year? It's possible, with our talent and schedule. They were #3 in scoring offense and #3 in scoring defense. But, newsflash, those numbers win you a national championship.

I think we will be Top 15, pushing Top 10, in both metrics. And if so, you're one of the 2-3 best teams in the country and will be making serious noise in the playoffs.

35+ PPG on offense, 17 or less PPG on defense, and we'll see you well into December.

He said "shot" so I took that as ballpark.. I think we will be top 5 and have stated as such, when you take talent, explosive quality depth, schedule, etc all into account its possible. Also I will say this is for regular season, playoffs is different.. Unless the oline is not up to par I dont see how we are not 38+ in regular season.

Ego. Say Mensah wins the Heisman. We win the ACC and make a deep playoff run/win the title. Does a school maybe talk themselves into hiring a rookie HC? I doubt it. But ADs are idiots sometimes.

There have been lesser coaches who have gotten a shot after that point, he would have earned it I would say and root for him to get opportunity and ball out..

Just to add onto what you were saying, let’s assume a team is dominating, leading 24–3 midway through the third quarter.

The opponent’s offense hasn’t had much luck, the defense is totally dominating both lines of scrimmage and their offense can’t get on track.

How do you direct your offense the rest of the game? Start slinging it all over the yard, and try to score like fiends? Or, step back from any kind of a hurry up offense, try to score, obviously, but bleed the clock?

So you could have a dominating team, with a talented, high scoring offense, but if they find themselves in a few games like this during the season, they’re definitely not going to be the number one offense in the country. No coach would try to go offense crazy with a comfortable lead late in the game.

That’s why it’s very possible to have maybe the best offense in the country and not even be in the top 10 of offensive statistics if the overall team is talented, especially on defense, and tend to dominate games early.

Dawson is going to have the good problem of trying to effectively manage all of the weaponary at his disposal into a cohesive offense.

And avoid the tendency to get too cute or outsmarting himself.

It will be a matter of do we want to run the score up or not, thats what indiana does. By epa and all the other important analytics i expect us to be top5, mensah is an elite qb. Our explosive play rate will take a leap, and we will have more scoring opportunities
