Heard it from a good source...

In hind sight it makes sense now, waiting until after the title game to interview coaches.

Someone on either Clemson’s staff or bama’s staff was the 1st choice. Was it Enos? Not sure.

But I think the “fedora and applewhite and the others to UM” was more their camp floating that out there than manny’s interest in them.

Manny’s interviews implied he was waiting for games to finished and the only game left was bama/Clemson.

Never underestimate the savvy of the agent community to make their clients look like hot commodities.

That being said, my understanding is that those guys were talked to, but Manny had about 25 guys from NFL and college who were legitimately interested and serious guys who could have been considered, and those two were not necessarily 1(a) and 1(b), if they were even in his "top 3." By that I mean I know of one NFL QB coach who was interested and talked to Manny about the position, and would have been a great hire, IMHO, but even he got the sense that Manny had other guys with higher priority.
 
Agree I think. While it would service the cadre of schadenfreude seekers that garnish full chubbies when something apparently goes against Miami, I don't think Enos was the 5th or 6th choice or whatever random number some have thrown out. I also don't think Manny was chess-boxing too much with attempting to "search and plug" leaks. I imagine Enos was #1, as Manny said, perhaps at least in the top 2-3 candidates, and he was simply waiting for the national title game smoke to clear and conduct business like grown men must. Manny is a grown man and is well-proportioned to wear pants where they should be - high on the waist, flat-front (never pleated), and with a touch of extra material near the fertile-crescent to accommodate a proper Canes man.
 
There's lots of good sources who were on both sides of all of these discussions. That's what happens when the boss man tightens the jar. That said, Applewhite absolutely was given serious consideration for this job.

Not denying that El, but we were not searching for an OC back in October. This stuff all hit when Pastor Richt retired.
 
I definitely believe he was 1a or 1b. Manny said all along candidates were held up by with other priorities. Everyone assumed the 'ship and jumped on Scott, but it could've easily been Enos....or perhaps both.

First, How is a guy that has been a HC for 10 years going to play coordinator to someone with no head coaching experience?
