Heads up

LMAOO the freshman highlights are against other freshman teams. Kid couldn't even make varsity frosh year, so yes I'm referring to his sophomore year, his only one on varsity

To put in perspective who we had who was "better" than Fines. Colorado DT Tyler Hennington ate this kid's breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Another CU DL Tim Coleman was better as well although he was more of a defensive end. You should have seen the look on my face when I saw Miami was recruiting Fines, he's really just not that good Paranos

Crying at you showing me highlights of a team I ******* played for

Wanted to apologize for my lack of regular involvement on the site recently. I will be back to churning out articles this week.

We would like some indepth coverage of Dline recruiting in particular the DT's and NT's. How about a catch up with Ryan Fines.

Go Canes

Went to high school with him back in Colorado before he transferred down to Manatee. Couldn't hardly hold the point as a sophomore playing against very weak talent. Very average Dlineman, we had better on our state championship roster the year prior to him taking over. Want more?

You must be talking about his freshman year of highschool playing against seniors, because here are his soph year highlights from which looks pretty good holding the point. Oh wait his freshman year look pretty good also.

Welcome back Pete. And as for Fines, that is without a doubt one of the most questionable takes of Golden's tenure so far.

Well you do know that manatee hs has had one the top 5 best dline units in the country over the last 5 years including last year and Fines started for them last year.

2013 squad had 4* DT Derrick Calloway (USF) and 3* DE Blake Keller (UCF)
2014 Squad had 4* DT Demarcus Christmas (FSU)

So I don't know what Fines did to sour you in Colorado, but here in Florida he is balling out as a NT ( as the kids say). Also as a two gap'er he holds the point well an sheds to pursue the ball carrier with a very good motor which is what UM's current scheme calls for so he fits justs fine which is why he was offered and not any of the other players you referenced. Not to mention Manatee plays a much tougher schedule than his previous school in Colorado and apparently Fines is doing fine against this vastly superior talent.

Sooooo cry all you want, and don't forget to ask him for his autographed miami Jersey when you see him next year, now that is trully funny.

Okay lets have a discussion based on how UM's uses our NT to control two gaps rather than get penetration, why do some of you feel Ryan Fines is either not right for this role at UM or will have little impact. Do I think there are much better prospects out there, well yes I do, but I also think Fines has the potential to be a solid NT in the future for UM.

I already told you, he gets blown off the ball a lot. Highlights would never show that. IDK that you want your "2-gap, non-penetrating" NT to get blown 5 yards off the ball every other play

Oh you mean like this whole team video from last spring which would have been his first spring in florida. Fines does play high at times an does get out leveraged by double teams, but manages to still hold the point more times than he is moved off the line (keep in mind this is against Tallahassee lincoln HS which is a state powerhouse). This is why I said in time with a red-shirt year he will be a solid NT by his soph yr.

So I am still waiting for you to mention why he is not UM material and who you think is better that UM could land their commitment.

Fines is #99 in red.

So I take it you would have preferred UM have received a commit from a player like 2015 NT Daquan Hawkins from Westlake HS in Atlanta, GA.

Hey if Tommy Tubberville wants him, then why shouln't D'Onofrio and Jethro?

Do you read dude? Your response to "Highlights would never show that" was to post a highlight video. And, within that highlight video, he gets blown off the ball multiple times by high school guards. The kid is a question mark at best, a MAJOR reach at worst. Just because he plays DT and you did a write up, that doesn't mean he is an automatic take. What do you trust more, an internet video or someone who has watched him play up close and personal?

I posted the team highlights to show yes he does lose a few reps, which are generally not shown in a individual's highlight film, but Fines wins way more reps than losses.

Go Canes

Pete what is the latests on the arrival of Michael Wyche, he should be out of school by now?

Go Canes

One thing I will say is he got a lot stronger after he moved. Really the only way I see him being serviceable at UM is if he's a freak in the weight room and makes sure he can just out-muscle everyone still. Because his technique and quickness leave a lot to be desired.
