Excellent retrospective. Some guys like Denver Harris, Enai White, Chris Marshall etc are still in school finishing up their last year of eligibility; however the jury is done deliberating.

Noah Thomas: 3 years at A&M, one year at UGA. UDFA who signed with the Bengals. His soph and junior year w/ A&M were each more productive than his one year at UGA. One of the few successes given he stayed at least for 3 years at A&M and he appears to have maximized his potential.

Le’veon Moss retired from professional football a dozen days ago; four days after signing as an UDFA with the Dolphins. Given his extensive injuries, this was another success story all things considered. Second team all-SEC as a junior; didn’t transfer.

321 carries, 1,767 yards, 22 touchdowns, 5.5 ypc.

Bryce Anderson entering his fifth season at A&M; success story for them there although he hasn’t been consistently elite.

Kam Dewberry had three good years at A&M then went to Bama where he started 13 games at guard…..Alabama’s offensive line was ****-poor last year. UDFA to the Falcons. All things considered, good outcome.

Anthony Lucas, father is a UMiami alum, UDFA to the Lions. 1 year at A&M and three at USC. Young for his grade and doesn’t turn 22 until October. Has all the tools and very little of the production. Kinda funny to hear/read story after story of the NFL prospects being too old and the changing gridiron calculus-conundrum that creates; then, all the teams pass on a 5* who was invited to the combine & played on national TV every Saturday like Lucas. Mfs complain to just complain.

Was determined to play edge in college however I can’t help but imagine the counterfactual if he committed or was more open-minded to growing into then playing DT. Besides weight, he has very similar measurables compared to Darrell Jackson. Underachiever whose finished career invites more questions than answers.

Anthony Lucas was an edge defender for the Detroit Lions who earned a 71.4 overall PFF defensive grade in the 2025 season, 316th among 852 qualified edge defenders. His PFF pass-rush grade of 77.1 ranked 142nd among 852 qualified edge defenders. His run-defense grade of 69.1 ranked 394th at the position.
He generated 23 total pressures as a pass rusher. That total included 3 sacks, 9 hurries, 11 hits. Against the run, he recorded 27 solo tackles. He also forced 1 fumbles on the season.

LT Overton is another guy who is young for his grade. Turns 22 in October. Two years at A&M and two years at Bama; went in the fourth round to the cowboys. Pretty productive throughout his four years; albeit, he took a dip as a sophomore because he only played in 6 games. This is what the standard is for five stars IMO; especially the defensive linemen. Not all of them will be 3 & OUT superstars; however, they should turn their talent into consistency fairly quickly; then keep flashing and improving more with age.

I really thought Shemar Stewart would end up transferring here. Ending up being the most successful player in A&M’s class. Good for him, and them; I guess. We know the story here: 3&out 1st rounder who is more theory than practice at this point.

Conor Wiegman has played a ton of football and was finally able to start and finish a season at Houston. Had a very good year and wouldn’t surprise me if he goes from good to great this last season. 700 rushing yards is nothing to sneeze at. Jimbo knows what “IT” looks like @ QB.


I don’t know the ins and out of the rest of the players’ careers; still, safe to bet the rest are failures or underwhelming. Whew.

Tommy Moffit will help them going forward; however, it should be noted that Elko identified (not hard to do obviously lol), evaluated, and recruited all these defensive guys on the list. As did the staff that worked at both places.

He was hired in December 2021 to be Duke’s coach; and many players such Walter Nolen still hit the portal and transferred out after Elko was announced as the new HC late November 2023; just two days after the regular season ended. Nolen was the best player in this class, was the highest rated recruit, and was taken 16th, one spot ahead of Shemar at 17th. Was an all-American at Ole miss; Shemar Stewart was third team all-SEC in ‘24.
 
oh, and Evan Stewart was a success story too. Another guy who transferred despite Elko coming back. Should have a big year for Oregon after recovering from his injury
 
I didnt realize Texas A&M has 4 top 100 ranked Offensive Tackles. Lol a quarter of their 16 commits. I dont know, maybe Bain and Mesidor got them real hot when they couldn't protect the QB.

Their class is highly rated but it looks kinda weird. To me it seems like they are doing what they did with Jimbo for that one class. Our class seem to be well formed for team needs and balance. For example we recruit guards and tackle bodies. Some players can do both but they are not the same body type. They seem to want to make another splash. Will see how their final product looks.

And the crazy part is Francis was the only starter on our line last year that was rated a top 100 player out of high school, so if they can’t develop they’re still cooked lol
