The No. 732 overall prospect and No. 61 cornerback in the On3 Industry Ranking (and No. 32 cornerback in the On300) will officially visit Miami June 13 in addition to a spring visit March 22. He last visited Miami Jan. 18 for the Hurricanes’ junior day and said Miami is currently the only school he’s locked in an official visit with, although he said Texas and Florida are also in positions to get official visits from him. He plans to take six visits total and will announce a thorough official visit schedule following his spring visits.

Howard already held relationships with Miami cornerbacks coach Zac Etheridge and safeties coach Will Harris during their time on Houston and Florida’s respective staffs and has maintained his relationships at Miami. He said Miami’s decision to hire Harris away from Florida had a positive impact on how he views the Hurricanes thanks to the relationship he previously had with Harris.

“When I came on my unofficial (to Miami) on junior day, that’s when I got my offer,” Howard said. “I felt a good relationship with the coaching staff before the coaching staff (changed), so they were always going to be in my top regardless. But the coaches that were recruiting me, I was getting recruited by Florida and I was being recruited by Houston, and they both left and went to Miami, so that’s just the best of both worlds right there. They talked to me and let me know I’m still on their leaderboard, and I just went ahead and locked in an official in because I had a good relationship with those coaches before they left. So I’m just going to continue the relationship I had with them there, because I know it’s good over there. I have trust with them, I built a relationship with them, so that’s why I locked in my official visit.”

Etheridge has maintained daily contact with Howard and his father, a former defensive lineman at Ole Miss. He said Harris has offered suggestions on how Howard can improve his game, which he said he appreciates. He’s excited to return to Coral Gables this spring and summer.

“Of course, the school, Miami’s a beautiful sight,” Howard said. “I’ve toured all of the campuses and it’s a beautiful sight to see. I mean, they’re building something special over there. From the palm trees to the ducks, it’s a beautiful sight to see and I fell in love with it. I like it a lot. That’s why I set my official.” He plans to announce a commitment on his birthday July 23.

If your comp for him is Damari Brown, then let LSU have him.

We don't need another one of those on our roster, there's at least 3 or 4 kids from Broward & Miami who could fulfill the role of a slow overhyped CB who needs to be playing Safety.

That was a complete troll comp.

Ain't no **** way you watched this kid film & thought he played like Damari Brown lol

I would love to get a footprint in NOLA and Edna Karr would be a great spot to leave one. I believe his Dad played both ways in the trenches at Ole Miss. You don't see that much. I will bet they see Coach Orgeron tomorrow.
Yeeeep. Preaching that for years.

Any verified height and weight? Looks like he got a care package of Miami Hurricane gear from the early 2000s
We got a chance to see New Orleans Edna Karr cornerback Hayward Howard Jr. at the Under Armour New Orleans Regional and he did not disappoint. An ultra-competitive cover man, Howard debuted this week on 247Sports with a high three-star 88 rating following an impressive live evaluation.

Verified at 6-foot-2 with a wiry strong frame, Howard won his fair share of 1-on-1 reps, including some snaps with turn-and-run downfield juice. He displayed sudden redirecting ability and handsy catch-point peskiness in the short-to-intermediate game.
