Have you ever considered that we aren’t bad as we think?

We’ve been outside of the top 20 for the last 9 years? Shocking.

I would love to see two consecutive years where Miami wins a bowl game. Then I can start raising expectations.

Pavlov's Dog.

We've been conditioned.

The slightest thing that goes sideways - yep - we react - badly. Throwing things, ripping stuff up, slamming doors, getting bombed, coming up with new, creative forms and combinations of profanity, giving the kids wedgies, leaving the toilet seat up at night . . . you know!

We just don't know how to act properly to good news. Good events.

Just because good events haven't happened to us in over 20 years doesn't mean we can't reverse the conditioning - so even though it make take 20 years to time-reverse our conditioning - I sure hope Mario can be another Schnellenberger and Butch Davis - and turn this near death program into another dynasty.

And it just hit me - WHY and HOW can a woman go to the toilet at night - and not check to see if the seat is down?

SPLOOSH! And a scream that will wake the dead . . .

Thoughts?

I thought we’d be in the 50s.

It’s not all bad or surprising assuming this list is based on win percentage. Miami almost always finishes above .500 with the exception of 2019 and 2022. The majority of CFB programs struggle to reach bowl eligibility. While 2022 was a complete train wreck, one thing we’ve managed to do in recent years is avoid an absolute **** season with 3-4 wins or less.

I can’t say we’ve been trending in the right direction as 7-8 wins in 2023 seems like the general expectation. 7 wins got Manny and Randy fired. 8 wins was enough for us to say goodbye to Golden. The bar is being set lower whether we like it or not.

We are 66-47 over that time period.

Take out the wins over the non-power 5 teams, and you're probably looking at a team that's .500 vs. comparable teams.

Like Parcells says, we are what our record says we are. Mediocre. #24? Nah.

We offer a gorgeous, world class University and stadium in the *most* talent rich hotbed in the nation which also happens to be in a geographical area where you can go to the beach year round, yet the on field product has been on par with a MAC team. Yes we've been as bad, probably worse in context than we think, relative to the tools and advantages the program has.

Maybe it's all been because of coaching/leadership. Maybe it's because we've only recently been competitive as far as modern facilities go. Maybe it's because we've only even more recently been able to join the "bag game" via NIL. Whatever the reasons, the program has inexplicably underperformed. There is no reason a program like Cincinnati should be light years ahead of us, yet here we are. There's no reason to be in denial.

As Alzheimer's becomes more of a fear each year that goes by... I don't want to live in the past anymore.

I mean, list seems accurate. We haven't been as good as Miss State and we've only been a little better than West Virginia. We're like a 7-8 win team over that period. That's where you'd end up on a list like this. It both checks out and stinks at the same time. Its possible.
