The problem isn’t that we aren’t as bad as we think, it’s that we aren’t as good as we think.

Our fans consistently get themselves convinced we are a top 10/top 15 team every year, when the truth is we are about right there year in year out. We are a fringe top 25/others receiving votes team, until we consistently do otherwise. It’s the fans that set themselves up expecting every year to be the year. Truth is, we have to be top 15/top 20 team before we should expect to be a top 10 team.
