East Carolina is in the AAC and they beat up on ACC Coastal teams.
I would be more inclined to say they have if they had actually beaten us, but since they didn't everything else is merely someones opinion and speculation.
Last I checked USF was making it the Big Four, how'd that turn out.
The lengths some of you will go to bash a program you're supposedly a "fan" of is comical.
pretty sure i saw a similar thread for FIU a few years ago, as well.

Im not saying it will stay that way forever, nor do I hope it does. I am saying that right now UCF has passed us as far as where they stand as a program. They have invested in the program, they are winning games that matter, they are conference champs. They have 10 wins. They are doing what we should be doing and its so **** sad.

If you look at anything on a short enough scale, you can say that pretty much anybody who has more wins than us has passed us buy.
But the point is that programs aren't made or sunk on a short-term basis.
Saying that UCF has passed UM as a program is like saying Northern Illinois has passed Notre Dame as a program.

Sounds like what ND fans said about us in the early 90's. Not saying that UCF will ever do what UM did from 1980-2004, but you can only properly answer the OP's question if you give it a frame of reference. ALl time you are right. No way UCF holds a candle to UM. But they have been a better program than us for an entire decade. That's not "short term".

They haven't been a better program than us for an entire decade.
They were 0-11 in 2004, and they've had 3 other sub-.500 seasons over the past decade. We've had one sub-.500 season over that time. Basically, at MOST, they were "better than us" based on record alone for 5 out of 10 seasons.
Of course, that totally ignores the fact that they're in a crappier conference and play a softer schedule year in and year out, and it igonres the fact that we've beaten them head to head in the two meetings we've had over the last decade.

I posted our respective records over the last decade. They have been more successful the last decade. With 3 bowl wins to our one.

And I posted the fact that they have 4 losing seasons to our one over the last decade...and that they play in a ****tier conference.
What's you point?
Obviously they've had higher highs and lower lows than we have. But just because they have a slighlty better winningt pctg over the course of a decade does not mean that they're a better program.
That was my whole point WRT comparing Northern Illinois to Notre Dame. Same thing--NIU has had more wins over the past few years than ND has had. Does that mean that NIU has eclipsed ND as a program?
They are 21-4 in their last 25 and we are 15-10 in our last 25. They've also won their conference championship and had players drafted in the first round. UM, not so much.
I'll say this: O'Leary is going to retire in like 2 years. UCF is one splash hire away from competing for a national championship. If they get one national title, I have no doubt they will supplant UM as an elite power in CFB.
