Has Richt ever fired a coach?

Richt was pretty much untouchable in 2009, which is when he fired Martinez.

He didn’t start getting any heat from boosters or fans until the following year when they went 6-7.

I find it highly unlikely he was forced to fire him.
Ok so I guess the answer to my question is no.

Actually if you wanna really cringe and realize what a fraud this dude is, go read the entire article.

You weren't kidding about the "cringe" thing. Where's the guy that was interviewed for this article? This sounds nothing like what we have now. Dude lost his fire after two seasons it seems. Maybe he never had it to begin with.

Definitely sickening to read. Sounds like Golden when he first got here too. Already can't wait for him to be gone. Ruining my favorite team on the planet.

He was getting a lot of heat for the defense for several years before being forced to fire his college roommate and best man.

Everything Saban does, Richt doesn't and everything Saban is, Richt isn't.
Saban has 6 NCs, Richt has 0. end of story.

:q3xkxex:

Saban not only has 3x Miami's football budget to play with, but he also runs an institute for estranged coaches. You can't compare the 2 situations.

At this point I want Richt gone. Richt took the job to groom his son into a OC/HC. We may lose several games but I believe it for better. However, Richt usually finds away to get 8-10 wins to save his a$$.

the comparison was between Saban and Mork as coaches , not Miami and the Bama programs..... big difference muchacho.

...And therein lies the disconnect; you can't simply separate the two as if Nick Saban won all these championships coaching at FIU.
  • 3 out of his first 4 season at Michigan St. he won 6 games and sandwiched a 7-win season along the way.
  • His last season at LSU they played in the Capital 1 Bowl.
  • 7 wins his first season at Alabama.
Saban won 51 games his first seven seasons as a HC and Richt won 72... Do that math, muchacho.

Bama and UGA have similar resources. Mork was Sabans, Meyers, and Macelwains ***** during his tenure at UGA. Saban was no ones ***** while at Bama.

LOL .... if youre going to even try to compare Saban and Mork ---- i would spend time better speaking chinese to an orangutan.

Negative. Bama's budget has always been at least 30% greater--if not more--than UGAs, who just raised it 15% for next season. When Mark was at UGA his budget was not close to Saban's. Richt won the SEC title--f i'm not mistaken, and based on his record he'd have been in the CFP at least once if not more.

I'm not here to apologize for Mark Richt, but with all things being equal, budget-wise and talent-wise, Saban is not a superior coach. He's flexing with a bigger bankroll.

well you'd be speaking Chinese to yourself, because you're the one comparing the two coaches.

Ain't that something. So the whole Jon thing isn't his first rodeo. Guy definitely takes care of his people. Much to our dismay.

False. UGA is a lot more wealthy than Bama and has wealthier boosters. Half of that 30% difference is the difference between Marks and Sabans salary so Bama really only spent 15% more than UGA. I UGA is in a much better recruiting ground. I would take a 15% budget cut if it meant I was able to be the only good P5 school in the 4th most talent rich state instead of being in Bama.

Bama spent more money because they felt it was worth it with their coach. UGA did not want to open up the pocketbook because they knew what they had with Mork. Once Kirby came in and stepped up the teams production more money was allotted. Saban may not be the best coach of all time and obviously his bankroll helps him a lot, but he is worlds better than Mork and that is a fact.

So that's the bottom line, bigger bank roll. Why are we waisting are time recruiting kids? We should be recruiting investors.
X and Os have been replaced by $ and ¢s.

yeh, that's one way to close the gap. The other is to just plain recruit and develop the talent you have enough to overcome the difference in finances; like Jimmy telling players they need to overcome coaching to win the game.

Again, not here to say Richt doesn't need to be a better coach in all aspects, but let's not put a crown on the guy crushing everyone with his bank roll.

The first part of this bolded sentence (which I agree with) undermines and draws question to the second part (which I don't agree with).

As far as the money you're way off... 15% of Bama's annual yearly FB budget is 26.25Mill...and climbing. Saban makes about 4mill more than Richt per year...and climbing. So the difference in yearly salary isn't 15% of the FB budget...

I agree totally mork pricht needs to improve in all aspects. Nobody's crowning saban. I despise alafaga. He's just being used as the measuring bar. Pricht ain't cutting the tape.
