Does anyone know how much and how well either of these two have played thus far? With the majority of our LB depth wiped out, these two should have been able to see the field a decent amount in the first two games. I'm ecstatic at Owens being back but if Perry and Smith are able to give us quality snaps in relief of the Fab 3, we will be that much better.

Obviously, I assume that Pinckney, Quarterman and McCloud will receive the lion's share of snaps. I am curious however as to what our substitution pattern has been at LB. Anyone? Beuller?

I watched the play of Mike Smith he was attacking the gaps real fast seems to be getting good playing time subbing for Shaq, also saw a little of Charles Perry seems to be playing fine, I think these two will continue to develop down the road.

I felt like Mike Smith played a lot this weekend. And he did not look out of place. He played his part. Was active in pursuing plays. I was happy to see him in there. We need dudes to step up thats for sure...

Our DL is helping these guys alot. I worry about them in coverage but I feel DL will also help that. I seen Mike and Perry in there together in some plays.

Mike Smith had a good blitz near their goal line and forced an incomplete pass.

Seems to be reacting quicker this year.

Did you watch the game? They have played well. I thought both of them played better vs Fau than FAMU so that's encouraging

We rotate guys ALOT. Almost alternate every series, especially LB and DT. (I didnt pay enough attention for the DE).

We had JJ with Quaterman and Pinkney with first team and Darrion Owens with McCloud, I dont remember who was the 3rd backer. Owens coming back is a godsend. Hope he can get his confidence back up and get back to 100%. Dude is ultra talented and he was the young guy people were raving about.

i agree. week 1 perry was in on a ton of plays. Mike smith is actually our most experienced LB behind darion which is scary but he plays hard. both kids are very serviceable back ups.

I feel that M Smith doesn't look like he belongs, doesn't have numbers that says he belongs, and I really cringe when he is in there during meaningful snaps, but i'll be damned if he isn't ALWAYS showing up around the ball and making some good things happen when he gets his chances. he seems to be just a solid football player who does nothing great, but doesn't do anything very poorly either.

They both played well against FAU, Smith a little better. But I'm more concerned about Darrion Owens. Can't wait till he gets his confidence back, he was lost in space on a lot of plays and took horrible angles. I don't think he made one play on the ball. I made sure to watch out for him the entire game.

It's a transition, remember he was a pass rushing specialist at Miami northwestern. He didn't play the linebacker position in highschool like that so his best days lies ahead of him at the position which is a good thing

Both are playing well, especially Smith. You clowns attack our players more than opposing offenses do.

Yes I watched the game but was not able to focus on everything I wanted to the first time. I'll rewatch tonight but I was curious about what you guys thought.

So having an opinion that a player is not playing good or is not a good fit for a certain position is now attacking them?

Great logic

It was an opinion that was actually a compliment saying that despite everything i think about M Smith, the kid makes plays and shows up when given opportunities. He did it last year too and i gave him props then too.

Maybe comprehension isn't your strong suit as your super fanboy mentality won't allow you to read anything that may seem negative about a player. Some belong, some don't. Despite everything i think about M Smith he shows that he belongs. Not a negative.
