ThisIt's a bye week give him a break, some of you fools need to take a bye week from these message boards too
I don’t get that sense either. I’m sure he’s not worried about facing the media. From what I recall the coach doesn't do his radio spot on bye week.
He will be back on next week.
Does Mario look like a guy that wouldn't face the music? Goodness he already stepped up to mic after game and took full responsibility.
He isn't going to shy away from this. He probably has been working harder.
To be fair to TVD, the second pick wasn’t really his fault that was just a great play the DE madeYeah, and you understand that my "screaming" comment was a metaphor.
Film study, sure. Asking TVD about WTF was going through his head on those two picks, absolutely.
But we ALSO need for TVD to have a voice inside of his head that keeps him from ******* up like that again. I don't care if that voice is Mario's or Morgan Freeman's, just as long as he has SOMETHING that reminds him not to throw weak interceptions ever again.
They don’t… they just want him to do the usual coach speak like the other quotes poster say and then start a new thread talking about how Mario is no different than X,Y,Z of a coach and we’re doomed…Exactly. He’s literally going to repeat what he said Saturday night.
Really interesting to see how people put this much stock to these interviews.
I swear some fans have the same entitled attitude that the “diva” recruits have and start crying and moaning and wanting everyone fired at the first signs of weakness.100000% confident that if Manny Diaz had ducked a regularly scheduled radio interview after getting blown out by a G5 at home, there would be 100 new threads featuring some variation of the words "simp", "cuck", or "beta".
Mario skipping the interview is a ***** move. If this was a short week and we had a game tonight, then maybe I could justify it by saying he needs to get as much work in as he can before today. He's got two weeks before the next game. The interview is important because it is about setting an example to players about accountability and ownership of actions.
If a player made a bunch of bonehead mistakes in game, then in a film session a coach asked him , "what were you thinking?", and the player just got up and walked out of the room, would that be OK?

Maybe part of why the locker room crashes down after loses and has at Miami for the last 20 years is because fans act like the season is ruined and the players accept it as fact.
Not that it is a good excuse for them, but fans need to actually support the team, coaches, and players instead of whining like a baby with a dirty diaper constantly
Positivity is important to building a program
TIFWIW but Mario gives zero ***** about the fans feelings. A win vs. UNC and all this noise goes away and we are back to our regularly scheduled program. I do not suspect this will happen after our next loss. They don’t… they just want him to do the usual coach speak like the other quotes poster say and then start a new thread talking about how Mario is no different than X,Y,Z of a coach and we’re doomed…
Damned if you do and damned if you don’t… either way I know Mario is working at getting this better…. I just hope he’s been having a come to Jesus moment with the offense top to bottom because that is inexcusable
This is the problem. This "Torch the farm at the first sign of adversity, and then wonder why things never grow". 4 games in. FOUR. I get people being ****ed with Diaz, that was a lazy hire, conducted by an incompetent AD. It had a high failure probability, so people were out on him almost immediately. Compare that to the leadership in place now. Let Rad and Mario do their **** jobs. Let Mario have a chance to work with this team, we knew this wasn't going to be fixed overnight. If we do the same **** vs UNC & they club us it’s going to get very ugly. Banners ugly. **** this patience bull****. Nobody here expects to win the national title or even the conference. We do expect to look like a normal team who puts guys in the right places & schemes to win. Until that happens I know for one I’ll keep *****ing & moaning & encourage everyone else to do so. We will not stand for incompetence as a fan base. Never have.
Not to the same level of ineptitude, but one could argue Mario was somewhat of a lazy hire as well. There were other coaching candidates that we should've at least considered (Kiffin, Stoops, a couple others), but it was all in on Mario. If he had turned us down, we would've kept a lame duck in Manny. Because Miami guy, bro. This is the problem. It didn't need to be fixed overnight to beat MTSU...This is the problem. This "Torch the farm at the first sign of adversity, and then wonder why things never grow". 4 games in. FOUR. Lol he addressed the press after the loss already. The fans slurping on Mario's Cristoballs keep saying he's trying to change the culture of players not being accountable. If you don't see the hypocrisy in saying Mario is trying to build a culture of accountability while he's ducking a possibly uncomfortable 30 min interview where there is a chance a radio host might ask him why it looks like certain players have massively regressed, then Mario's Cristoballs might be covering your eyes.
So if Mario publicly announces "I am no longer going to speak with the media after losses. I will only answer questions when we win" will you continue fellating the HC or are you finally going to say, "this doesn't smell right"?
OP is a troll.note- that last line makes you a callous not funny *******. I have friends who have lost their homes and there are deaths.
wtf is wrong with you
The idea that people are concerned with missing what he has to say is garrulous gibberish and a hackneyed attempt to weave a strawmen in deflection of the more poignant concern expressed repeatedly in this thread. The point people seem to be drawing most of their discomfiture from is the perceived temerity and effrontery of him not grasping the nettle of the sordid ordeal. Whether one believes such is necessary is to be left to individuals - most likely swayed by genetics, character, personal ethics, sense of right, etc..Slinking away in the cover of darkness, holed up in his gloomy Coral Gable's grotto, listening to Enya through his Beats, upon every katzenjammer he faces may present an unflattering look for a man who supposedly honed his steel by way of Roman ethos and the Marist ideals of his formative years.
