Has anyone heard from Mario since Saturday?

I don't give a **** what Joe Rose has to say. I don't care if he "expected" him or "didn't know why he wasn't there".

I know you'll find a dozen more ways to slime out of acknowledging that Mario wasn't required to call in to Joe Rose during a bye week.

Waaaaah, waaaaah, we should feel bad for Joe Rose and the mopes. Waaaaaah, waaaaah.

You got that crying thing down as well.

Everyone on this site are either sunshine pumping weirdos who can’t see what’s in front of them or experts who can smell bull**** the second it appears. The bull**** appeared this week.

Is Mario the first coach in 20 years to recover from it? Time will tell. But for you and others to keep pumping this mope narrative is just hilarious given what the fanbase has witnessed/endured over 20 years and 5 failed coaching hires.

The word mope needs to be put to bed on this site

Waaaaaah, waaaah, you are bothered by the word "mope". How pathetic.

Nobody is "sunshine pumping". I am mad as ****, and unlike some of the pvssy mopers on this site, I can actually communicate with people at UM who deal with these issues. I'm not going to whine like a ***** on a website.

Eyes on the prize. I care about the games, I care about wins. I'm not going to start a pvssy thread about a coach not calling into a radio show during a bye week.

Totally agree. Nobody has that right , It’s part of the job. It’s not a good look with what he preaches about accountability. I’m just saying he won’t get called on it because of who he is.
I’d rather him work on solutions than talk about what went wrong. That shows accountability as he is trying to address the issues before talking more.

A responsible and accountable adult calls ahead of time to cancel an appointment. Regardless of whether is contractually obligated or just a courtesy, you cancel ahead of time. To not show up and not give a heads up is nut just disrespectful but also unprofessional. WaRio been talking non stop about accountability so its pvssy **** for him to not show. Sure he's having a bad week, but sack up for God's sake and at least show face and own it. We are asking for very little at this point, and he won't even give that.

Seriously, go fvck yourself.

Look at your screen name and your thumbnail photo. And then try to tell us with a straight face that you are merely concerned with "consistency in messaging".

You're just a liar. That's not a personal insult or a character assessment. It's just a factual reflection that the words you are typing are false.
You don’t know me bro. Or maybe we met at some point in life. I’ve been around the block on the canes internet. Life circumstances and other priorities have come and gone over the last 20+ years so I don’t get into like i did at one point. I’m not a mope lol. I supported all of our corches. I was giving manny a chance until last season at some point. And I do so with Mario. I just don’t like what has happened the past few weeks. It’s off the rails fast. In fact I’d be considered a slurper. My name reflects the bat**** toxicity of the porsts here in the past and was a play along with the avatar. So with that GFY.

TOC, he's getting riled up, it's hysterical.

Rose already said he didn't know why he wasn't there to his audience, which means he was expected to be there.

He ducked it and truth be told, I don't really care. We've got a certain poster in here asking about contractual agreements and I love it. Keep it rolling TOC.

If fairness, you might be assuming old buckethead knew the schedule and wasn't just doing the old "Coach is typically on today" without realizing it was a bye week. Rose gets that stuff wrong all the time, lol. But does anyone know whether Rose generally has the coaches on during a bye week, or if Mario would do the HC show up in OU during a bye week?

At the end of the day, if he was scheduled to be on the show he shouldn't cancel just because we got dragged by a G5 team at home. That's the opposite of accountability. But if they don't schedule the show during bye weeks, then this is a nothingburger.

Bailed on the staff because I don’t lay down and allow Marios balls to be slammed down my gullet? It’s either “you want him fired or he needs time to build his team“. Some of these quacks act like we’ve suddenly joined a cult and Mario the god is beyond reproach. It’s hilarious.

We literally just got drug up and down the field by MTSU and the guy goes awol. Even though he preaches “ toughness and accountability“. It’s his MEDIA RESPONSIBILITY to do this every week. If Manny did this the same hypocrites defending this would have the opposite take.

I guess I should just bow down to everything he does no matter how bad it is or hypocritical. **** let’s run the wishbone against Unc and I’ll clap like a drunken walrus “saying no way they saw that coming Mario, brilliant move“.
100% Manny would have been crucified for this. Show up and face the music. I ain't bailing on the staff (maybe Gattis lol) but own it, tough questions or not.

It’s pretty clear from the clip I heard that he was booked and Joe was surprised he wasn’t there, and that “there wasn’t much more to say about it”.

I think they come on for the Monday after the game but not the Monday after that but it’s been a good while since I listened so I think he was supposed to be on.

Can anyone confirm whether or not this was actually on Mario's agenda/schedule on Friday before the MTSU took place? I realize the show host was "expecting" him, but due to the bye-week, was Mario even planning on being there regardless of what Saturday's result was?

I've been on these boards for nearly 25 years. Plenty of people create threads for "Coach X is on the ABC show this morning". And we all know that the weekly appearances are largely a "looking forward" hype for the next game.

Again, I'm not saying a coach has NEVER gone on during a bye week, only that the media appearances that are required by contract involve post-game press conferences and pre-game media hype events.

Mario has a job to do, which is all I care about. I have no problems with him not going on a non-required radio show if he can spend the extra hour asking TVD if he really wants to be a part of our program still, and is willing to do what it takes to regain his edge and the trust of his teammates.

Thanks for clarifying that for me, guys. If he was supposed to be on and just ghosted the appearance, that's poor form from the HC.

Soft move. Some fans are under the impression that we’re not supposed to win yet bc we “have no talent”. We have more talent then everyone but 2-3 teams on our schedule. What we don’t do & haven’t done for 2 decades is scheme to what we have & play to our strengths. Until that changes we will be who we are.

While it's possible that Rose was mistaken, that assumes he works in a vacuum by himself. These types of things are scheduled, confirmed, and itineraries are made with a program guide. That would mean many people missed it was a bye week and he wasn't actually coming. It's extremely improbable that many people goofed and then Rose low key throws him under the bus.

I don't care one way or another what happened. I don't think he needs to get drug for skipping out. I do find this thread hysterical for obvious reasons. How some will spin a tangled web of improbabilty while asking for contracts. Have fun, I have better things to do but hope this thread keeps delivering.

What RVA said. This is really a simple and shut case of Mario ducking out of an interview. Call a spade a spade. That’s what it is, and everyone can have their own opinion on how much that matters. I think it’s pretty bad optics given all his rhetoric up to this point.

But there’s no need to resort to the mental gymnastics that he didn’t do anything at all worth noting.

I find it deliciously ironic that when coaches like Golden and Manny went parading around the local media blaming themselves for losses, lack of preparation, etc. (which is the very definition of accountability) they were met with throngs of vitriol by the entire fanbase.

Mario doesn't have to answer to anyone except himself and the program. The guy has a massive rebuild ahead of him and a horrendous culture within the locker room. I don't understand how a worthless radio appearance with Joe tossing him softballs anyways is going to change any of that.
