With all the exemptions no one paid more than 35%-38% which is not much different then what it is today. All we did is clan up the code a little bit. Total tax receipts over the last 100 years have remained steady at 17% to 19% of GDP. The "good ole' days" you talk about were "good" because for a while after WWII companies began giving out generous pensions and retirement packages not taxes. When businesses realized how expensive they were, they've slowly pulled back and have been opting for 401k plans instead requiring you to do more towards your own retirement. Many of those countries that leftists love to tout with their nationwide healthcare plans are struggling to pay for those programs. Handouts are expensive.

Seems to me the liberal States are doing just fine in education versus the conservatives ones (who cant even keep their schools open 5 days a week in some cases). Liberal *** Mass number 1. Conservative *** Bama 50. Look at the whole list. Its pretty evenly distributed to be fair, but that bottom 10 are almost all conservative states.

I've worked in education btw. In charter schools. They ain't the answer and are a backdoor to segregation.

The most segregated school district in America isnt in the former South. It's in New York City, and it's largely bc of charter schools.

The education problem has nothing to do with public versus private versus charter or liberal or conservative or vouchers.

It's much deeper than that, and in fact, probably wont be solved anytime soon.

I lived in MA for my first 26 years the private schools/charter schools were better than public schools in most cases. My sister has taught in both still does. Of course in the rich cities like Newton were a little different. I also had a lake house in Bama for 10 years the private schools/charter schools are much better than the public schools. Many charter schools all over the world in the countries with much better education systems are gov subsidized and proven to work better than our public system. The last time I looked a few years back we had the 28th dumbest kids in the world thanks to our liberal public education system.

The bulk of the middle class has always lived like that. People had to work two and three times as hard to earn a living. Our economy has changed from one that required physical labor to one where most people are glorified paper pushers. For the first time in human history, hunger isn't the biggest threat to humans, obesity is. One billion people have been lifted out of absolute poverty in the last 30 years. That's real progress for humanity. That's a result of global capitalism.
I presume that what you mean by one accident or unexpected bill from being on the street as you say is the rising cost of healthcare. Hospitals used to be nonprofits and are for profits now a days. Doesn't mean the world is worse. Some tweaking will suffice.

Globally, I agree with you 100%. However, in America, the middle class has regressed over the past 30 years. Also, low-income neighborhoods and communities are more likely to have obesity issues because cheap food is generally horrible for you.

Plenty of countries with national healthcare systems doing just fine. Theres no perfect system and you can point to examples good or bad with a nationalized system, but I cant point to anything good about ours as is, except maybe no pre existing condition insurance discrimination, which is relatively recent.

Sure, there were loopholes, but the overall rate was much higher. Personally, I don't think anyone should pay taxes on the first 40k they earn. Also, our healthcare system is completely broken and inefficient.

The previous lowest rate – 7.4 percent – was achieved at the end of the Clinton administration in December 2000. Since 2016, black unemployment has significantly and consistently declined. Under President Trump, black unemployment reached an all time low on several occasions. Black unemployment dropped below six percent for the first time in May 2017. Twice this year in August and September, black unemployment dropped and held steady at 5.5 percent. In October, black unemployment is 5.4 percent. The lowest rate ever recorded.

Since you brought up the Obama administration. The black unemployment rate peaked at 16.8 percent in 2010.

How many black judges are conservative? Using your #'s I'd say very few. How many black woman he has to chose from are conservative? Way less than Black men. By you're #'s not many. He didn't know the people he was hiring so he took some of the generals opinions who he should hire. And it came down every year after that. Black Unemployment is low now because unemployment of the general public it extremely low. A trend that started years before 2017.
