Harsh Reality

Honestly, I dont know what you guys are looking at that have the 10-1, 9-2 expectations. A QB thats been on campus for what 5 months? An OL that has 1 returning starter in the same spot as last year, and he’s not going to exactly make people forget #00. Wide outs that collectivley have, what, a half dozen TDs among them for their college careers? An all world TE that caught 3 balls last night. And running backs, two of whom are true frshman, that in Miami’s best days, would be redshirted. On defense, up front some talent, but 2 transfers that played their first games in orange and green. I dont know who the linebackers are and the secondary is ordinary. I’m not a big fan of Mannys defense, dont ask me why. Our kicking game is far and away the best unit on ths team and we stole th FG kicker from a community college team that beat is last year. I see some bright spots, and I’m an alum so I will ride and die with these guys, but to expect anything more than 7/4 6/5 is ambitious. I’m grateful to have Canes football back, and I’ll give the University and the coaching staff, as well as the kids credit for being out their playing, and I’ll look for improvement from week to week. And I cant wait until we beat UL next week and people start talking about kicking Clemsons’ ***.

I get the critics, I do. Before I sell my U stock ill wait another game. We have to remember, no spring practices but 4, no spring games, and an off-season away from campus. I would like to think that we will get better as the season goes on. We aren’t the only team in this predicament. If the rest of the conference lights it up this weekend, so be it. But I believe the games will have sloppy elements to them just like ours did. With that said, we do need Couch or Williams to start over Ivey. He seems completely lost for a Junior player. OL did well in spurts, so the potential is there. King is in more run mode than sticking it out to pass downfield. I’m certain this piece will get better.
Agree.
No excuses, but let's see how many well-oiled machines take the field this weekend.
On King, I've posted this before....on the whole we're going to love this guy, but be a little frustrated by his accuracy at times.

My only real complaints were that although a little bit of an improvement, the Ol still leaves a LOT to be desired. Also Ivey is atrocious. It’s like he’s allergic to turning his head in coverage to find the ball. Could have possibly had 2 picks last night if he just got his head around.

1). Our WR’s absolutely stink.
2). The O-line is just as bad.

Buckle up for a long season. If it wasn’t for the QB - we were in for a long night. With that said - we do have a QB.

7-4 Is a realistic expectation.

I don't think this deserves a coveted🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 hot take rating, but a heck of an effort nonetheless.
