Harris Rumph Tunsil Lewis speaking at LSU coaching clinic

I guess Tunsil is there to speak on how to recruit at the high school level.

Or maybe how to get your otherwise not-prepared-academically-for-college player a scholarship. Especially when you're coaching at a non-accredited scam school.

Topic: How to get the hopelessly academically unprepared but can't miss 4 and 5 star into school and keep him eligible until he leaves early without a degree
for the riches and fame of the NFL (and never to return to school).

By the way, I don't think Ray has a degree from UM, does he?

Its just gas and McD money right Pete?

I think they might throw in a new car cause you need something to hold the gas...who wants to just carry around a bunch of gas cans? You don't want it splashing on your steak and lobster, er I mean, Big Macs.

You know what's like to be carrying around all those gas cans while you're sitting on the Greyhound bus all the way back to FLA trying to eat some hamburgers and fries at the same time. Then the bus driver screams at you to get rid of all the gas cans because you can't have flammable liquids on the bus....

So maybe they just give you some Shell or Exxon vouchers to use when you get back home and get picked up at the bus station.

On wait, what am I saying? There's no need for gas money because you're getting your roundtrip on Greyhound paid for. Never mind.

So yall think valentine got paid because lsu out recruited golden? So why wouldnt they pay hometown guys like gerald willis or speedy noil or kenny youngor that 5 star o-lineman that went to bama? Or a couple years ago landon collins a 5 star prospect who was #1 in their backyard.

are you just ruling out the possibility that Bama ponied up for Collins and those other cats?

I don't think Valentine got paid nor do I think Golden was outrecruited. I think one or all of several things happened: he was unconvinced he could succeed academically at UM, and he did not want to play in our system. I heard something along the lines of the former explanation from a source I think was accurate and reliable. Valentine himself made public comments along the lines of the latter, that he did not like how UM projected to use him. I don't think Golden could have done a better job recruiting Valentine, unless he was willing to lie to the young man about how he was projecting to play him. Valentine said something about not wanting to bulk up to 340 and play the nose, if I remember correctly. I think there might be some truth to the first explanation; I'm not sure that Valentine was anything more than a marginal student. He came from a very questionable, non-accredited privately run school, and I wonder if he ever cleared UM admissions. If he had a good GPA at Champagnat, it might not mean much to UM admissions (or it might). I'm just guessing now.

I'm not saying LSU is paying players, altough there was a lot of smoke over Dwayne Bowe.

I'm more taken aback by this business of apparently paying HS coaches to speak or participate at a school's camp. I had no idea that any school was paying HS coaches to speak. That should be illegal. I'm also disturbed about this business of 7-on-7 coaches and street agents who take players around to colleges and get paid for it.

I'd be willing to bet that LSU probably does more of that than Miami.

There's LA coaches"speaking" at the clinic as well, are any of them the coach of one of the guys u mentioned?

Look I work in medical sales and all the big companies do the same thing, pay doctors to speak at trade shows and courses and give them "honorariums" and they use your product, it's smart, but the fact that there's a bunch of Miami coaches is funny with one of them being the coach of a recruit you just beat hometown for. I'd be shocked if a kid from am herit and booker t don't end up at lsu within the next couple recruiti g cycles, bad roi if they don't.

Well, you might know a lot more than I do. I just heard one explanation from a friend who used to spend a lot of time in the recruiting office--don't know how good his contacts are now. And of course, the public explanation about scheme. You might have the real story so I won't dispute it. As far as the LSU poster who said they don't pay because of all the blue-chippers who went elsewhere, maybe they just got outbid. Wouldn't surprise me if they did pay, after all, there were so many reports about the recruitment of Dwayne Bowe.

I wouldn't put anything past a lot of these SEC schools. Football is like war to them--they'll do anything to win. Of course, we take all the public relations heat when KWII makes an inane and meaningless comment about being a soldier for the U. The media should focus on the **** that really goes down in the cheating schools, including a few of the ACC schools, too, I imagine. (Not UM). After Shapiro, we're probably not going to try to compete---even when we did (IF we did), we didn't have the resources. Nevin himself said he couldn't compete even with all his money.

This business, paying the HS coaches, is really sleazy. Who is Tunsil going to deliver next?

No better way to get kids to your school who would have never made a trip otherwise.

That's not what this is done for. This is done for no other reason than to get $$$$ in pockets. You think a Jon Drummond takes kids on a bus to SEC schools for the benefit of the kids, no sir. He makes a grand at each stop for "coaching" and if they produce a kid they get more on the return trip...a speaking engagement probably easily 5k+. How do you think the Gatewood relationship worked to deliver Alex Collins, or was the South Plantation team (that wins nothing) just a prime example of great coaching to bring that guy to Madison, Wisconsin and pay him a couple grand each year to do it.

You're flat out wrong here, sir. He does it for gas money and an occasional McD's stop. He said it himself.

So coaches from the two most fertile recruiting cities in America. What a coincidence. Smh.
