Hardest Hitting Cane...What Say You??

I'm friends with Tony...spoke to him a couple of days ago....spoke to him many times about the game....That Nebraska O-Line was and still is the Most Decorated in NCAA History.....Olividatti's 3-4 Base...turned into alot of 5-2....Tony told me it was called "Monster".....
No way Tony was EVER 220 at UM....He left at 255-260....Don Baileys skinny *** might have been 220....Tony said they were at a 40-50lb disadvantage (each man)....and remember another important fact...our LBers weren't Gigantic either....Brophy...Sisk and Fernandez> (who by the way, had an A+ game) weren't 6'2 250....

I know we didn't win a title that day, but I loved that game. Never was the hate so evident and never did we rub everyone's face in it so spectacularly. They could have called 1000 yards in penalties and we still would have won.
One of my All Time Favorite Canes was Throwing Longhorns around in that game like rag dolls....Shane Curry (RIP)....That guy was one Scary ****.....

I remember Rohan Marley Hitting Syracuse QB Don McPherson soooo Hard....That McPherson was actually (caught on TV) throwing up in the Huddle.....Rohan and Sapp should have gone to Prison for Life for the Assault they put on Cuse's *** that game...

Nate Webster...

His high school tape was vicious( I still have the Canesport 1995 recruiting video on VHS, lol), One of the best splash reels out of all the video's I have ever seen.

Another underrated hitter that hasn't been mentioned was a personal favorite of mine - Darryl Williams. He was sleek, fast safety but he could lay the wood. I still remember that stick on Kez McCovery in Wide Right I on a slant. Still cant believe he held onto it. But yeah, ol' 31 was a really great player at the U

Agree on Daryl. One of the silkiest smooth athletes to play safety here.

I don't think Merritwether belongs on that list. Not enough hit film under his belt at UM and got a lot of his notoriety from his HS reel. Same with Vilma - he wasn't known as that hard of a hitter outside of those couple of Nebraska hits.

Marley
Sharpton
Denzel
Nate

All laid the wood big time.

Dee.....I tried telling them about Nate.....I know what I heard and saw with my own two eyes....SAVAGE....and I agree 100% with what Shannon did with Willie.....Dee,...thats why earlier in the thread I mentioned what Butch could've done with him.....I might be going out on a ledge...but I truly believe Butch could've and would've made Willie a BEAST.....
Willie was a beast. His problem was him and onion never got along. Cause onion always played his favorites(one of the main reasons his coaching career was crap too)onion tried to change the approach he had to the game. Willie would tell you all he wanted to do was go out there and murder the opposing team. He was undisciplined in the sense that he didn't care who the ballplayer was or where on the field. He just wanted to eat the opposing team. Onion tried to make him play nothing but zone (which was a bi product of his defense) told willie all the time his instincts were perfect but he didnt want him playing to them. He wanted him to just sit in his spot and push people away. Foolish. Arthur brown he flat out wouldnt let play cause he had his promises he made to get certain kids in. Didnt care who was the better player. Willie wouldve loved butch. He couldve understood that malicious approach butch had towards offenses. Butch had that same kill instinct in him that we all had.

Sean Taylor the end

2nd place goes to Brandon Meriweather and Denzel Perryman

/ *note I didn’t see Ray Lewis or Nate Webster play so don’t @ me

Whay no one understands is when it comes to us at that time when it came to the practice field we literally hated the opposing side of the ball. Nate tried to murder people on a daily out there. Little as he was, dudes were scared to make eye contact with nate. I just read the entire thread cause i was curious if anyone would get these other two boys. For me this is relatively easy but its a top 3 with all of em tied for first. 1A nate then 1B & 1C is two dudes onion destroyed there careers. 1B WILLIE WILLIAMS 1C ARTHUR BROWN dudes all epitomized what it is to hate HATE the ball carrier. Next 2 would be blades & st26 with burgess not far behind.
Yeah, the problem for most of us is we didn't get the privilege of watching WW and AB. Which is a shame. We all knew they were solely going to do one thing... run to the ball and jar it loose somehow. You rightly state that our coaching staff was not equipped to handle players like them.
Unfortunate. Could have been legendary. I fear the CanesFam is not aware of many other players that were miscast at UM too. There is another thread starter if someone wants to hope on that train. I would be interested to hear from the former players on that list.
