Semper Fi! I was taking a 3 month vacation on Parris Island in Nov. of 1975 (1975-1978) when the Corps celebrated it's Bicentennial.

Thanks to all of you for your service. My best friend was a Marine. One of the best people that you’ve ever wanna meet…. if you weren’t the enemy. Loved the USMC. Served two tours in Iraq. Came home worked for the DOJ for a few years. Late one night while driving home tired, on a dark country highway, he dozed off and ran off the road. Hit a ditch and embankment, a few trees and died before the ambulance could get him to the hospital. Just 45 years young. Till this day, one of the toughest phone calls I’ve ever received. It came from his fiancé at 5:45 am Friday May 26th, 2017. Semper Fi, Marines.
