Hang in There…

It sounded like boo birds were raining down the whole game. For people who were at the game, was it as bad as it sounded on tv?

Gattis is clearly a problem. You can see it from a mile way.

And while It’s not his fault when TVD misses a wide open receiver, someone drops a critical pass, or we fumble the ball, it’s all accentuated by how awkward we look on offense. Nothing is easy. We have to fight like crazy to pick up every first down. It shouldn’t be this difficult, especially when you see teams with less doing more.

UM has been destined to run the spread offense since it was created, but for some reason, we keep avoiding it like the plague. It’s the best system for the athletes we recruit and Mario should be able to see that by now. How he handles this going forward will be interesting.
Gattis is clearly this issues, huh? Not a defense that gave up 35 points, taking away the 10 TVD gave away, to a team that scored 7 against James Madison?

Let’s give credit where it is due, this was a complete failure by the staff, not one man, the entire staff. This team comes out flat, and plays down to competition. This is not on Gattis only. We scored 31 points, we left points on the field sure, but 31 against that team should be a W every time.

Defense played horrendous, but our offense is what put us in a hole early on. It only started doing anything of significance when Jake got brought in the game.

Hang in there lol.

Just wait till we get boat raced by UNC. This **** is going nuclear.
Knowing this program, we’ll win that game….because nothing ever makes sense.

We said the same thing last year before NC State and Pitt.

But rest assured, we’ll drop more games at some point. This team has a lot of issues.

I noticed too about Mario. Very odd. And something seemed to be up with TVD and the team. Garcia comes in and there is a spark.
Garcia was quarterback when we couldn’t punch it in three times from the One.

The Rot runs Deep on this Canes team.

Sure, he missed Arroyo on that one play, but I blame Gattis for calling 3 runs before that into the teeth of a defense.

I’ve tried to write this recap 10 times, but it’s so hard to find the right words, so here goes my best shot:

I was never on the Mario bandwagon. I was probably one of his most ardent critics while he was at Oregon. I said, countlessly, we could do better. With that said, you can’t turn on the man yet. I have no idea if he’ll get this fixed, but he deserves time to see this though. As much as this loss hurts us, I know it hurts him more. It’s time to see if that ends up mattering the next time we line up to play.

My main question for Gattis is, “where the **** are the screens?” Have we run a single screen to the RB all year? MTSU was blitzing like crazy all night and we never took advantage of it. I understand he was dealt a bad hand with these WRs, but that’s also HIS room. He needs to earn his paycheck and get the most that he can out of them. But overall, this offense is simply not a fit for our personnel. We had finally left the Dark Ages when we hired Lashlee, and now we’re back in them.

TVD has been horrible. It’s as simple as that. And I’m not sure what bothers me more: his poor play or demeanor. No fire, no passion, and no confidence. Gattis hasn’t done him any favors, but wow, he’s nowhere near the same player he was last year. Jake didn’t light the world on fire when he entered the game, but for the first time all night, I actually believed we could win with him at the helm. If our defense didn’t completely fall apart, I really think he would have led us to an ugly victory. There should be a competition in practice the next two weeks, but I’ll be honest: if Jake doesn’t get the nod, I’ll be disappointed. I have zero faith in TVD at this point.

The defense….woah. I don’t even know what to say. Our corners got cooked all night and we couldn’t get pressure up front. Tackling was an issue, too. I thought Steele and crew had a really bad day.

Okay, now that I vented, I want you all to trust me and walk away from the ledge. This was one of the worst Canes losses ever, but I’m hoping Mario uses this as a learning experience. His eyes should be wide open about the regression of TVD and how **** this offense has been. And I’m sure he recognizes the need to revamp this team in more ways than one. Just give him a chance.

The reality is…this is CFB. Sometimes, the results don’t add up. I just watched Kansas State beat OU on the road after scoring 10 points and losing to Tulane last week. We still have a lot to play for and we have to do whatever it takes to preserve this recruiting class. We have to try our best to support this team, as much as it pains you all. They need us in 2 weeks for UNC. Enjoy the off week and hang in there. Everyone on this board is not alone. I refuse to believe UM football can’t — at the very least — become competitive in the years to come with all the financial support being dumped into the program. Don’t take the easy way out and quit, like many of your peers. Much love!
This is a really good and wise post. Prudent, grounded.

But I got nothing left. Writing a farewell thread as I type, might post it, might not. I’m only visiting the site out of force of habit at this point.

24 points by the offense, which further supports your point.

Jake will be ruined by game 2. This O and our hard headed, overpaid, stubborn coaches can't see the talent they have to work with, as opposed to the talent they wish they had. Mario must have taken a **** of a lot of hits to the head to want to run that POS O here. It's like watching Dan Enos all freaking over again. This sucks, and there is no sugar coating it. We only paid Mario because of his UM ties. Those Utah beatdowns showed us all who he is, and people here made excuses for him. Well? How do those Utah losses feel now? He's a pitiful game day coach. If he needs twice the talent to beat the other team, what kind of coach is he? A **** crappy one. A good coach can take an inferior squad and beat a more talented squad. We went with the coach that struggles to beat less talented teams with his more talented team. Why? Because he's Mario F'n Cristobal, from UM, and Columbus.
