Guys we should target for the last LB spot.

If you ever saw Washington in person he is built like Sheddrick Redwine...no way he plays linebacker

He's like 175. And he isnt a real hitter. quite frankly he is a questionable take at db for us. Let alone the thought of as a linebacker.
If they have to get Machado then so be it..atleast he is a locl guy and may give his all and be a good depth guy for us

He's not a "take" at DB, because I don't think he's a DB. lol. Like I said above, I think a real strength and conditioning program can get his weight up to a respectful level where he can play. He's 17/18 years old, eats like ****, likely not very functional in the weight room. Put him anywhere else, he gets his weight up.

Our coach says he can teach tackling and while he's not a hitter, he can chase and tackle.

He doesn't fit our mold at LB, but he can play. Y'all underrate him at this point. If he's a bum, I think it'll be more on this staff than the player.

What did we do to deserve this misery the past 15 years? Sure, I can take 5-6 years until the train gets back on the tracks but my god this has to be the most embarrassing, pathetic program in college football history considering our history of success. We literally dropped off in a blink of an eye and have never been able to recover.
Sebastian must have pounded the football God's mom

What about Jamari Stewart? I really do like Jesus Machado. He's a die hard Cane and he has a high football IQ.. I get it he's not a physical freak but you always see these Scrappy guys go elsewhere and turn into 3 years starters averaging 120 Tackles every season. Terill Hanks from La Salle in Miami was one of these guy. Slow 40 times and not a physical freak but a hard worker and smart LB. He goes to New Mexico State and is 4 year starter and puts up 400 Tackles 43.5TFL 11 Sacks in 8 INTs and he plays for the Miami Dolphins now.
Y’all been complaining about speed at LB when have guys who produced..now y’all want a guy who speed is a absolute question, but the argument for him is..production..we really are in the end times

Speed isn't everything.... It's all about hip positioning, Flexibility and the angles you take.. You can mask speed with good angles when your trying to bring down the RB

Until cis catches a glimpse of the kid not being able to run down a RB

Because I know you love it when I drop those numbers so we complete the eyetest-to-analytics spectrum...great threads on Twitter today and Keshawn Washington immediately came to mind.

If you want a LB...go find a safety. You all underestimate the transition and there are a ton of them out there. The criticisms are valid for this particular player...he's thin (he's not Todd Pinkston like you'd have me believe) and he's not athletic enough for safety. I don't even think he's a linebacker fit for Manny's scheme...but he looks like a guy you put weight on and make him into a chase linebacker. That doesn't have a role on this team - probably why we were 'meh' after Greene went to Nebraska and why your boy Hyppolite really didn't get high priority.

I'd also say...I agree with @Liberty City El with a guy like Amari Carter. Put his head huntin' *** at linebacker. These types of transitions should already be happening. LB is not even important in this man's scheme. We just need guys that can get to the f'n edge once in a while and we haven't had that for four years or more now.

You pretty much got it. Honestly....imma say if yall remember when Baker made the statement about a lb that wasnt making plays, etc it was around the spring time...its my opinion he was speaking on Hyppolite. Im thinking they werent that high on him in their evals.

Then likely saw the mid year tape and was more impressed then offered expecting a decommit right away and he didnt so they pushed on.

Im thinking they think they are/were in a good spot with Flowe..then the Greene kid came available with fsu clusterf*ck and they thought that would be easy pull as well (dont know why they would think that ased off where he is from).

But its nothing i didnt expect...Diaz and his staff evals and recruitment at LB has been bad/confusing since being here.
I thought the LB not making plays was Garcia???

This is pretty well summarized and matches up with the timeline perfectly gogeta.

I'd say Corbin Gibson is a name we may get to know in January. Was at home games this year, and Ivins mentioned him on the radar late november ...Big 6'3 215 athlete. May be too big for striker, but I can see him as an OLB or maybe an H-Back on offense. Plays both sides everywhere for his high school

That was the kid I was trying to remember. Saw his film and thought he could be an Olb down the road being coached up

Right....because Ragu is a much better option.

Jennings isnt good. Steed hasnt played and has the knees of a 60 yr old stripper, Joyner..never played..was a projection guy. I think we need 3 Lbs in this class.

You know its bad when Mccloud is the best out of the group..Mccloud was a guy i wanted replaced by other guys in the group just last year. Had he not took a shirt..this unit would be in serious problems. Still could be actually with injuries.
Even if we do get another LB, do you honestly think he'd play over the Walkon? I mean is Sam Brooks not clearly more talented?

Lingard not playing, Harley getting forcefed targets while Thomas doesn't get the ball and a talented guy like Hightower somehow doesn't ever get to play, Robert Knowles played more than any safety (idgaf what anyone says he isn't good), and Brooks couldn't play over the walk on, and Patchan was playing waaaay too much. And it took 3 losses due to kicking (and other stuff obviously) before we started a kicker that can make a 30 yarder. Martell literally never gets a chance EXCEPT at WR? like wtf.

I don't trust these coaches on who they choose to start.

We might legitimately have the worst LB & OL recruiters in the nation...

Gonna have to rely heavily on the Portal come January & leading up to Spring.
Which is crazy seeing as how Diaz was the LB coach before this season, and now he's HC, Baker is the DC and Current LB coach, and Patke was also LB coach but is now a waste of space being Striker coach...
So 3 coaches essentially dedicated to one position group, and they are all **** recruiters and actual coaches of the position. DB group is also terrible at recruiting. At least Rumph is solid at actually coaching up the players imo.

I really don't get how the **** we are missing so bad at OLine when it was literally our worst position group this season. That is the definition of incompetence.

But hey at least we're getting top RBs!

Grasping at straws here. It's so bad to be left in a situation like this again at LB, CB and OL after what happened in previous years with this staff.

Quite sad indeed
