This has been a great year but I do have a couple things I wanna say.
TBH we should of started Perry. I think with Perry we would have been 10-1 or 9-2 but we would of probably lost more earlier in the season. The way we play call for Rosier you would have thought he was a true freshman with how simple and basic we make things for him. We don't allow Rosier to do anything more then what he needs to do (and deservedly so) which is something you typically do when you have a true freshman. With Rosier it 1 MAYBE 2 reads or tuck the ball and run something Perry would have been able to do at this stage of his career IMO.
No this is not a knee-jerk reaction I just think if we're going to simplify the offense for Rosier then why not do it for Perry who is a much talented player?
The defense IMO didn't take the leap I hoped for. They were still great but coming into the season I thought it would be at the level of Wisconsin, Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, Georgia etc. We're not consistent enough for 4 QTRs game after game as a defense to be that great yet. We always have a terrible 1st half only to rebound in the 2nd half. To be a elite unit we have to play elite QTRs 1 through 4 every game.
Said it earlier in the season and my opinion hasn't changed. I question how good our strength program is. 4 stars all across this btc and they get bullied by Pitt, Syracuse, UVa, UNC.. doesn't make sense to me how we continue to make every defense look like Alabama when we try to run the ball. Searles group better improve quick fast or we need to go after a elite OL coach. When you look at the our defense again they get dominated physically in the 1st QTR and is it me or did our players struggle to bring down Pitt RBs and QB? It like every time we hit a Pitt player they would drag a LB or DB for 2 more yards EVERY TIME. I don't think we've gotten stronger at all as a team. IMO we should look for a elite S&C coach. Someone that will get us great noticeable results.
McCloud and Rosier spots need to be an open competition next year. (I will say McCloud played great today.. reacted a lot faster and made tackles. Still, that doesn't make up for the other 9 games of playing like hot garbage.)
On to Clemson.
