Guys, I’m feeling nervous about Michigan State

Will we beat MSU? Maybe, but to listen to some on here talk about how great they are for beating Northwestern and an FCS program, while at the same time talking trash about Miami beating a decent App St. team is hilarious.
I mean seriously, one guy on here talking about how MSU had the game against Youngstown St. over by halftime....................youngstown st. Wow.

You guys understand you aren't a Top 10 team right? But have you watched the ACC? You will likely be in the ACC Championship game because your non-conference schedule will be harder than most of your conference games, and that includes App State.

Two sack TD Roof is the Sun of Ted Roof and runs a 4.5 40. Nick Hampton (31) 4uns a 4.4 to 4.5 40 at OLB (that's Brian Burns fast), Demetrius Taylor (9) runs a 4.7 to 4.8 40. D'Marco Jackson (52) runs a legit 4.6 40. Both of App's corner are 4.3 to 4.4 guys.

Michigan State doesn't have that kind of speed at every level of the defense. They may be bigger but they aren't that fast.

Your defense matches up better with Michigan State as well due to its size up front and speed. Cam Peoples is a better back than what Michigan State has and the offensive lines are comparable in skill, except for Dameon Daley who I'm slightly concerned about.

In last weeks Massey Composite App was 28th and Miami 27th. If you bet on sports, and use Massey, you know that means a one score game is likely. App is now 40th but that won't last the rest of the season. But that number is good for 6th in the ACC, which is RIGHT where I told you guys that App would probably sit if we played an entire ACC schedule.

The Power 5/Group of 5 garbage was created and pushed by ESPN to create the perception of a gulf in college football between the two types of schools in competition and funding. Well guess what? That gulf doesn't exist. The results from the last two weeks bear that out.

Keep in mind that Michigan State jumped App in Massey after beating MIGHTY NORTHWESTERN and Youngstown State. Northwestern just beat FCS Indiana State 24-10 in week 2, if that tells you anything about how bad they are. Michigan State beat Youngstown State 42-14. I can promise you App would handle Youngstown State much more effectively than that.

The point is, I told yall that this game wouldn't be like 2016 because App now has size, speed, and depth. I was laughed at. Now you Walmart fans can't accept this because you don't get football, I get it, it's hard to understand when you're force fed this garbage from ESPN everyday.

Yall will be playing Clemson in the ACC Championship and when you are, everyone will look at this game and be glad you scheduled it. It will help your Strength of Schedule should Alabama be your only loss and you somehow win the ACC. While Alabama is off playing powerhouses like Mercer and Southern Miss out of conference, you guys are playing what will be a Top 25 App State team, a Big 10 Michigan State team, and the defending National Champion.
Off topic but I really do believe you guys win out. Was really impressed with your squad and wish you nothing but the best the rest of season. I actually believe that Miami loss may hurt you guys moving forward due to us imploding. Walmart fans though? What does that even mean

App is probably a better team than Michigan State, and a top half ACC team, and you all thought it was asinine.

According to Massey, App is like 24th and Miami 23rd or something, so the game turned out exactly as the Composite predicted that it would in terms of point spread.

I don't think MSU is a Top 25 caliber team like App State is. I think MSU likely has one good runner that made their first opponent look bad because he hadn't been on film in their offense.

Maybe it's ESPN's fault, but I feel like people should know by now that App is probably better than they think.

Since 2015 now, Tennessee, Penn State, UNC, USC, Wake Forest and now Miami have all been one score games. Only UGA, Clemson, and Miami (2016) were more than one score and the last time it happened was 2017 with UGA who went to the National Championship.

Maybe time to show a little respect considering that if App wins out until October, they will be ranked Top 25 and if they go undefeated the rest of the way its possible App could get to Top 15, just as a function of scheduling.

Regardless, you beat a Top 25 team, as the past two coaches that played App have said.
Absolutely agree App State is better coached and prepared than our Canes week in/week out.

Well, they put a pretty good whipping on Northwestern. They looked like a well coached team. The thing to remember is Mel Tucker filled his roster with transfers. This isn't last year's dumpster squad. They have a lot of guys with experience. Regardless of talent, they look like the better coached team from what I've seen in two games from both teams.

It isn't about who beat who. It's about what the team looked like doing it. MSU was in total control over Northwestern. They looked well prepared and well coached. We on the other hand looked far worse than the Alabama game which I thought we played well in the 2nd half. The App State game was sloppy. The team looked unprepared didn't execute well. King and Lashlee were awful. The offensive line was terrible. Couldn't even move an undersized G5 defensive line.

This is why people are pessimistic about the MSU game and the Coastal moving forward. The App State game just showed that we are no better than any Coastal team with the exception of Duke. I was expecting us to dominate the Coastal this year outside of UNC. Now, I think UNC, Pitt, Virginia, and VT are all toss up games at best and some of them we may be the underdog. Not what I was expecting from this team. It's early, but this looks eerily like the 2019 6-7 season where we just squeaked by Central Michigan.

I hope the App State game was just a hangover from Bama. I am more concerned about the coaching as this theme of looking unprepared, bad play calling, and unable to adjust continues. I think the MSU game will give us a clearer picture of who we are and what we can expect for the rest of the season.

Do they have someone capable of wizzing passed a stumbling Donaldson, like everyone else? Then they have a shot.

I think that our offense appears to be dog *****. Blame the D all you want, but had the offense been semi competent the outcome would be different. Even against Bama. (Not saying we would have won).
We have ZERO spark. Cant say TVD or Garcia are going to be Heisman winners, but we know what we have with King. A short QB with below average passing skills, who's strength are mobility and experience. Yet he is coming off a knee injury and appears to be slow on his reads and progressions.
You guys had 375 yards this game. You averaged 460 last year. App finished in the Top 10 in FBS in most important defensive categories last year, and number one in pass defense, Top 5 in passes defensed, etc.

You may not believe it, but the defense you played this weekend will be as good if not better than most of what you will see the rest of the way. You may not see if now, but you will as the year goes along.

Hey, that DE has a very low center of gravity! You can't coach that. He has all the intangible traits and a high motor. He was hungrier than Donaldson on a late night run to McDonald's!

MSU will probably run us out of the Rock.
I was so glad when Rambo yelled at Donaldson, when Rambo got lit up on that screen pass, and Donaldson was just standing there doing nothing : about time someone show some emotion :

Sunshine pumpers said MSU was a dumpster fire last year and Mel Tucker was a trash *** Corch

31-14 MSU
They were a dumpster fire last year. But they got rid of half the team and brought in a bunch of transfers. Now they're a decent team but it's hard to say how good they actually are yet.

The QB situation is better but it's just decent. Walker at RB is a great pickup and he's playing well. They have two good Wrs but not much else. Online has improved but they were horrible last year. They haven't been tested yet. Hopefully we can give them issues there.

Dline is solid. There's no stars. But they're good. Their lbs are better and much faster than last year's. Safeties are decent. Their corners are trash and we need to attack them. They want those guys to be in man and king has to make them pay for that. We're not going to be able to run much. Smith,Rambo and Harley need to have great games. If we show up we should win but if we play like we have well lose.

Hope you are correct. I for one think we should let the season playout. I would love 11-1 or 10-2, but would settle for lesser record, winning the coastal, and showing well in the ACCCG. Would also want a victory in which ever bowl game we win. Believe it or not there are some parallels between Manny and Butch. (sanctions aside)

They are a black box to me. Northwestern got walloped, but gained 400 yards. Maybe they had a hangover next week, but NU then powered their way to 275 yards against Indiana St. They're FCS. Didn't even know they played football there.

Youngstown state gave up 600 yards, but sparty kept their starters in all game. The previous week they gave up 500 yards to Incarnate Word, which I had thought held services in Westchester from 10-12 on Sundays.

They seem to rely on the big play, which could go either way for us.

Jeepers.

If we can get some big plays in the passing game in the first half we should be alright, but I think there’s about a 10% probability of that right now.

Who am I kidding, this will be a dogfight and we’ll probably play into MSU‘s hands like we did App State. 50/50 game right now.
