Gus

What's all the *****ing? We're better with a healthy Gus than without. No one suggesting he's destined for a Heisman, but a third back and depth is preferred.

Didn't I just say it in my last post?

Size. He's a big running back and Yearby isn't. Yearby is small. For our team, it is nice to have two different types of options at backup running back to bring into the game depending on what style is working.

I am a big fan of Yearby's running style. I also think the Gus we are seeing now is not a finished product and he has a lot more room for growth.

He's big on the scales and measuring tape. He looks great walking through an airport concourse.

He doesn't look 230lbs on 3rd and 2. Jus sayin.

Where is Chocolate Gray At? He is not being shirted.....I was hoping he got touches yesterday.

Say what you want about Gus, but he runs with a lot more power than Yearby. I'm surprised you're debating this. I've seen Gus dragging defenders and moving piles several yards. Yearby gives the effort, but he's too small right now...it's not even close.

Never thought I would say it but we gonna need a healthy gus to beat fsu

No, No we won't. He's a 3rd string RB. Yearby is better than him.
If anything I think we will be better if he didn't play because that would mean Golden couldn't put him in on goal-line situations and get stuffed.
Same goes for Fentress. Carter and Deon are rotating throughout the game, but not ****ing Fentress. Fentress plays every dam snap; I just don't understand it.
I have to disagree here..I think Gus is better then Yearby between the tackles.. You are still thinking of last year when he was a true freshman and use to get stood up

Oh its not even a question Gus is better than he was last year. But ever time I see Duke coming off and Gus going in when we are in the redzone, I know it's ending in 3 points. In short yardage situation it still doesn't look like he's taking the handoff, getting his shoulders downs and trying to completely power through for the 2-3 yards he needs. Instead he tries to use his "quickness". And it's not like I wan't him hurt, or even don't want him to see the field. i just don't want him to come in in the redzone because he's such a "power back". Duke has more power, without a doubt. Gus is really improving, but agaisnt FSU it wont matter how much better you're getting, it matters how good you are. In the Redzone, I only trust Duke at RB.

Yearby IMO is better in all facets. He can make a guy miss. Gus just can't.

Gus Rushing Stats
49 ATT, 303 YDS, 6.2 AVG, & 5 TD's

Yearby Rushing Stats
65 ATT, 421 YDS, 6.5 AVG, & 1 TD

Looks like we have two solid RB behind Duke, making Miami the 4th best rushing team in the ACC.

Gus was looking pretty down on the sideline. They tested him out for a good 15 minutes and he looked in a lot of pain. Finally they took him off via the cart rather than walking. I didnt take that as a good sign.

From Matt Porter in the Palm Beach Post FWIW

He also said sophomore Gus Edwards, who left the game in the second quarter with an apparent ankle injury, appeared to not have suffered a major injury.

How would Manny know? Nothing official has been released.

Manny said on QAM that it was a sprain and he will be good for fsu. He rode the bike to stretch it out but the coaches decided to shut him down.
