Every top flight coach knows that the UF job means you have to be 25% coach, 75% politician. Gundy has to kiss one *** at OK St, T Boone Pickens. At UF you can't compete with the SEC big dogs unless you have fancy facilities. UF doesn't have many multibillionaire boosters so that means beg schmoozing dozens of rich millionaire boosters, and having to beg a broke state government to pour another few million into facilities. Good luck with that.
Most other SEC schools (Tennessee, Alabama, etc) are situated in states where college football is pretty much the only thing going on, so legislatures and taxpayers have no problem forking over the dough. Not the case for the state of Florida, and UF has the double whammy of also being located in a hellhole. I've said it before, the SEC job that I think has the most potential is Arkansas, since Jerry Jones is happy to bankroll his alma mater.
